Best turning videos on YouTube. I’ve learned so much from this channel! Thanks.

This a wonderful, well explained method using the faceplate which comes with most lathes when new. No need to make that "exact tenon" for jaw check use. The face plate is very secure so no opportunity for the bowl to become a flying object, if proper screws are used.

bought my wife a lathe for a present. This is by far the best advice and instruction I have found. Watching all the advertising to support this channel. Great info and no nonsense - a true teacher.

My amazing wife bought me a WEN 5 speed 12x18 lathe for christmas. I'm 36 and i can remember wanting a wood lathe back before i was 10 years old. I'm watching all your videos; you seem like a well of knowledge. I'm excited to get started

Used to turn pens 30 yrs ago, never tried a bowl. Watched the whole video. You are a great teacher. Gotta dust off my husbands lathe and give it a try after I clean the rust off the tools and sharpen them.

Thank you very much for sharing. I enjoyed watching and listening how you explain every step of the way. Watched other videos where the turner doesn’t say a word about their process. I have watched some of your other videos and enjoyed all of them.
Thank you again.

I've been turning since 1991. Primarily, turning small boxes, goblets and earrings. I'm sure I must have turned over a hundred bowls over those years and have never used a commercial wood holding chuck. I do use shop made Jam and Vacuum chucks though. Ya don't miss what ya never used! Like you, a Face Plate and Bowl Gouge does the job.
Thank you for showing others how it's done, - step by step. Especially those "always" tense moments when parting off a perfect bowl. Good job Kent!

My lathe came in the mail today. I've never used one and my husband did once in wood shop about fifty five years ago so, needless to say, your help is greatly appreciated. Looking forward to browsing through your other videos. And yes, I subscribed. Thank you!

Your training in your videos are the best on YouTube. I have improved my turning tremendously. Lots of free advertising to my wood turning friends about your channel. All I can say is THANKS!

When I use a spur drive, I drill a hole a little larger than the diameter of the spur about 3/4” -1” into the wood. This acts as an extra safety measure when turning large pieces of wood. If the Spurs were to lose their grip in the wood, the hole would at least keep the blank on the lathe instead of flying off and potentially cause injury. Doing this is not going to hurt the blank since it will eventually be flipped around for the face plate mounting and the hole will be removed during the bowl hollowing process.

Purely as an observer (subscribed), I’d say the end that you’re going to screw the faceplate onto could be hollowed out (not deep) just enough so that the faceplate is snug in there.. then, when you flip the bowl it should be almost true…. I don’t turn, but I’m fascinated with the techniques, and Kent’s knowledge and skills are incredible!

One of the best if not the best bowl I have ever seen. Spalted wood is my favorite. Pecan looks great but poplar is better.

I always learn something new from you from each of your videos. I've watched so many, and through them you've taught me so much. I feel like each video is another day in a bowl turning lecture series/course. Thank you. I'll keep watching and keep learning. Most importantly, I'll keep sharing your channel with my friends and anyone else that asks me if I know where they can go to learn bowl turning. I have also used your gouge cutting techniques to help me on my spindle turnings. What you teach has applications to all turnings.
THANK YOU!! 😁😁👏👏🤝
