I'm tasting a Japanese ration last produced in 2009. Called Type-1 rations, they come packaged in cans and required a long boiling time. 🇯🇵 Thanks, Gundog, for sending me this ration to make this video possible. 😁 New videos every Thursday and Saturday!

This video is NOT sponsored. Just trying out another ration. 😉

It's incredible to me how precisely you describe flavors and textures, I can almost feel the food too! Love your videos, lots of love from Spain :D

I love your Ration/MRE video's. (Not that I don't love all your other videos) Being in the military, and having eaten my share of MREs I love seeing what other countries get the pleasure of eating in their Rations. Great video Emmy!

That can opener lol. Have to say love that Emmy uses some "bloopers" in her video rather then editing them out. So many try to look perfect through editing and Emmy seems so "real" <- bad descriptive word.

Emmy! It would be great if you tried foods from some African countries. Start with Nigeria!

Like the vast majority of Japanese military gear the food is top notch. I would expect nothing less for the JSDF, great fighting force keeping Japan safe. In addition to this type of ration this is for in the rear with the gear soldiers not front line guys who have far more compact and light weight rations. Those actually have snacks as well. These rations are for motorcades and guys at supply depots and bases where weight is not a factor. IF memory serves correctly.

I love how Emmy is one of the only people who responds to their fans comments and suggestions 😍

You should try making takikomi gohan. It's basically what's in the can of rice but it's so tasty when you make it fresh. Cooking With Dog has a video on it.

turn that can opener 90° and it works fine. ;) they are made to cut in both ways, from the top and around/below the lip, so you can just pick up the cut of lid without getting cut.

A common thread I notice watching these MREs is the care that is attempted in the creation of the ration packs. They can't be homemade or 5-star, but to see the seasonings, drinks, deserts, and even the various heating elements provided are impressive. I think if you are 1000s of miles from home that even seeing a brand named packaged item, like a packet of tea or coffee would provide some sort of comfort.

I've had a similar dish to that ration. It's a kids meal we called "Ochazuke, weenie, koko
A bowl of rice with tea poured over it with teriyaki weenies, and pickled radish. The can of rice you opened looks like "Chirashi" which is rice with bits of veggies, bamboo shoots, and fish cakes.

I really love MRE testings on your channel. I was actually just watching the playlist before I saw there was a new one. I'm super thankful to gundog4314 (and the others) for sending you these to try.
