Stark Foundation Presentation - Young Tony Stark (Iron Man) with mother and father - Captain America: Civil War (2016) Movie CLIP HD [1080p]

While giving a presentation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Tony Stark used B.A.R.F. to revisit the memory of seeing his parents Howard and Maria alive for the last time.

Stark later explained to the assembled students that he felt guilty for the lack of respect and compassion he showed his parents in their last conversation.

2008: 'I never said goodbye to my father'
1970: *Finally gives him a goodbye hug*

Well now we know why Tony didn’t blame Starlord for his reaction in IW. He knew how it felt to lose someone close, and having the killer right in front of him.

1:43 In this scene, there's no laughter. But in Spider-Man FFH, there was laughter. This showed that Beck really was an unstable guy.

Man Tony was just great at creating villains unintentionally wasn't he

Its worth pointing out that Tony is the public face of the Avengers. Every time anything goes wrong, it's Tony who deals with the fallout. He is the only publicly accessible one and he's the one who gets blamed for everything.
Which is distinctly unfair, because he does try to prevent all the tragedy and pain and disaster, but he gets blamed when it happens anyway

This really shows how unstable Beck was. Nobody was laughing when he said B.A.R.F. in fact, they were all listening to Tony sadly relive some of his past and then go on to fund student research. Not only that, but Tony himself said he had to work on that acronym.

"Honey do you know a Howard Potts? Some guy I met back in New Jersey in 1970 and he looks an awful lot like our son".

Came here to see how different reality was from Mysterio’s memories... he was definetly ill; he remembers the audience laughing when they didn’t... that was all on his head.

During the B.A.R.F. sequence, Maria Stark tells Tony 'Say goodbye to your father'. During the press conference on Iron Man (2008), Tony's opening lines are 'I never said goodbye to my father'.

I love how you can see Tony’s character change throughout the movies based on the things he invents. From building high tech military weapons in his first movie to building the arc reactor as a seemingly unlimited power source to building suits for himself to protect the Earth to building something that helps the individual deal with traumatic memories. Even at the end of the movie Tony’s helping Rhodes after the accident with the mechanical exoskeleton that he’s working on so he can walk again. This scene really shows his character because he knows he can’t invent everything forever. So he’s willing to use his money to fund other peoples’ inventions. Truly an inspiration to the world in the MCU.

The relationship between Tony and Howard was so well done. I think one of my favourite moments with Tony was in Civil War when he was fighting Steve and said "that shield doesn't belong to you. You don't deserve it. My father made that shield."
That right there revealed everything about how he felt about his dad.

They should've made his parents CGI too. Atleast that would be like "thats a recreation, thats why it's like this", while Tony still looks very CGI in this.

I don’t know if ppl realize just how amazing of an actor RDJ is. Look at all the emotions in his face at 3:14 confusion, sadness, fake happiness, etc. All in a one second shot with one quick line.

Man, the fricking dictionary of emotions going through him when he saw "Pepper Potts."

I was rooting for Tony actually. Sure Steve had a point, but this movie was too painful for Tony. He was broken up with Pepper, his best friend got paralyzed, everyone (from Ross to that old lady) blamed him what Avengers have done in Lagos and Sokovia, he has faced his traumas since the first Avengers movie, Natasha blamed for being selfish while all he was trying to do was to save the team since the second Avengers movie. And if you think that wasn't enough, he saw the footages of the assassination of his parents while the killer is in the room. Brainwash or not, would you not give the same reaction?

Sure Cap also had problems like losing Peggy or becoming criminal but literally everyone treated Stark like asshole, although he was nicer than he was on his solo movies.

“It doesn’t change all the things I did to avoid processing grief” out of all the quotes in the mcu this one stuck with me. I never really realized that I distracted myself with a bunch of school activities to avoid processing grief until I heard tony say that. In a way I related to him. 🥺
