Mint Mobile vs T-Mobile 5G Speed Test!

preview_player
Показать описание

Both Mint Mobile and T-Mobile use the T-Mobile network for coverage. In this test I compare 5G speeds and performance on the new iPhone 13.

Both plans get excellent speeds when the tests are run individually. However, when the tests are run at the same time Mint Mobile has slower speeds because it is deprioritized on the T-Mobile network.

In my Ultimate T-Mobile Speed Test video, I found that MVNOs had about 33% speed when the network was busy. In this test on T-Mobile's Ultra Capacity 5G network, I found that Mint Mobile got about 66% the speed of Magenta MAX. This suggests T-Mobile is not slowing down deprioritized connections as much on their Ultra Capacity 5G network.

I had T-mobile and switched to Mint nearly 4 years ago. The only real-world difference I've noticed is the $2400 I've saved over the last 4 years. 🤑 Oh, and I get a funny Christmas card from Ryan Reynolds every year too.😀

Considering what you pay for Mint those are acceptable results.

Cool. Mint is definitely holding its own!

Yeah, but even with the lowest speeds from Mint, it’s so fast you can’t really notice a difference during normal use.

Makes sense.. you DO get what you pay for. Personally, I don't have a problem with Mint Mobile's speeds and I've had them as my main line for years. If you want the fastest speeds, highest priority and uninterrupted data, better dig deep into pockets cuz it ain't cheap! Lol

I’m considering switching my phone to Mint but leaving my wife and brother on T-mobile. Mint’s “unlimited “ plan for 30 bucks a month is a ridiculous deal in my opinion I don’t need all the free stuff. I like it, don’t get me wrong T mobile Tuesdays are awesome to wake up to, but when I can save about half the cost for Mint versus T mobile for essentially the same service there aren’t a lot of downsides to me. I did Mint’s free 7 day trial to see how the signal strength compared and it was almost identical, with mint actually getting better service( which was weird) versus T mobile.

Huge PING difference. TMobile is much more responsive for PING. Nice video. Love the zoom windows.

I was an AT&T 'grandfathered' customer for years being assured many times my plan was priced nice AND had fast data speeds. After switching to Mint Mobile my data speed is up around 50% and service bars max out most of the time and def more than before. If you need to do 188mph on the Autobahn then go ahead and spend those $$$ but if you just like to cruze at 90 on the freeway then Mint is a better deal

256 QAM is currently the fastest network modulation and about 33% faster than 64 QAM, which is used more commonly, especially in the Uplink. So it's pretty amazing from t-mobile that they use this modulation.

@Stetson at 6:16 it shows band 13, but band 13 is a Verizon band. Weird that it was showing that.

Man I regret paying for Mint Mobile unlimited plan for 12 months. After the first month of unlimited, I began to experience dead spots. Dead spots were before I used to get great reception. Sometimes my bars drop completely from 5g to 4g to 2g to no service at all. Kind of weird considering the fact that Mint runs off T-Mobile satellites.

Very nice comparison, i have always wondered about that and how they treat mint data. Might be good to do a speed test using the hotspots on the phone?

FYI, you don't receive access to most roaming towers when on a prepaid network. So the coverage is always better when on postpaid. Postpaid customers have access to some other carrier's towers when roaming outside the Tmobile network. T-Mobile is charged a fee from other carriers for this access.

Is there any reason at all to use TMobile/ATT/Verizon vs a much cheaper mvno ?

less ping can make a much bigger difference. Weird how just 2 phones change speeds when thousands are connected at once. Makes you wonder if the extra money for max is actually worth it.

As with many TMO MVNOs, there is no Spam Protection for calls/text. Mint is notorious for no spam filters.
