everyone be like “killed their husband” and I saw a comment that was like “killed my father” but in my head I’m just a normal person living in the town and I killed the king cause I wanted power, and he didn’t have any children yet so I made the townspeople make me their ruler and now I forcefully got my way into leadership

“The king is dead!” A servant screams as he runs into you in the palace halls. “You don’t say? You wouldn’t perhaps know what led to his mur- His death would you?” You ask while sneakily hiding the bloody knife you just used to kill your father in your back pocket.

Fast forward to your coronation. You stand above your once-equal citizens as their new ruler. “The king is no more! No longer shall the people of (kingdom name) be subjected to the cruelty of a tyrant”. The people cheer, unaware that you might just be worse than the king

“I’m truly sorry your highness, we were too late to save him, he’s gone. We’ve failed you my Queen.”
You sob uncontrollably.
“I need some time to myself, just please.. GO.”
Everyone walks out the room.
“Are they gone?” A voice says while stepping out of the balcony.
“Yes my love, they’re finally gone. Even the king..”
He hands you a tissue to wipe off your fake tears.

“Or should we say ex-king? Now that he’s gone, we can finally rule this kingdom together.”

He smiles.

“Yes we can darling, My brother isn’t here to hurt you anymore. Now that i’ve taken care of it, you’re free.”

You both step onto the balcony.

“This kingdoms finally free and no ones going to hurt it or you anymore.” He says while holding you.

You cup one side of his face

“Do you promise?”
You ask him.
He kisses you.

“I promise.”

He pulls you near the edge of the balcony;
the wind blows through your hair as it dangles down,
and he whispers in your ear-

“So unfortunate that you couldn’t bare the loss of your beloved king, that you resorted to taking your own life as your only answer.”

Your eyes met his cold expressionless eyes that once shined at the thought of your smile.

“You promised— please don’t do this, we can rule together, make this kingdom safe.”

He smirked

“Oh but darling, my promise is still kept. After I do this.. nothing can ever hurt you, and i’ll look after the kingdom once i’m crowned the new king.
It didn’t have to be like this but I simply can’t trust someone who knows too much,
may we meet in our next life, love.”

He pushes you off

You start to fall hoping he’d reach his hand out and save you.
Hoping he’d be the someone who’d catch you if you fall.

But he wasn’t.

He never was.

And you
The queen, couldn’t see it before.




(I personally listen to the vampire masquerade waltz and corpse bride while reading,

Vampire Waltz, Makes it feel like they were successful in their act of killing off the King and fooling everyone, Which they were. It gives off a sense of suspense but a start to a new “beginning”

corpse bride, makes it feel like there’s some hope in the end there isn’t any and it was all in illusion/act. As if he’d actually catch you if you’d fall but he never does in the end. It just gives off that feeling.
