If you love tinkering with computers, you'll love the Raspberry Pi 400. It works great for basic tasks or as a secondary computer. It may be a bit pokey in some respects, but when you hear the price, you won't complain.

It’s more than tinkering. It can be a very useful linux computer. I’m glad you like it.
This is a perfect gift for the 10 year old kid that wants to learn programming

Raspberry Pi is a learning platform in my son's school and they use it from grade four to nine. It is great because they use it for different projects and in five years they have had chance to see that computers are not just for gaming. This year when the kids have online school RP become their playground.

The problem is that is too slow to substitute a true computer. I have tried at home and is too slow

I always plug external speakers into my monitor anyway for better sound (using the headphone out jack most monitors have). And use a bluetooth mouse because I don't like wired mice.

Reading out of a book can be much easier on the eyes and more comfortable then reading off a screen, for many people.

Maybe I missed it, but the other connector on there is for doing all sorts of electronics stuff with: i/o pins and hooking up sensors and the like.

2:06 From this moment, you know it's a different beast, because you get a text screen before the graphical color box screen.
Older Pis (Pi 3 and older) booted directly into that color box screen, because the GPU actually booted first, and then booted up the CPU and the OS.
With the Pi 4 and 400, the CPU is now actually in charge from the beginning.
Not something the average person cares about, but it's actually pretty significant for those who would like to see the RasPi migrate towards being a 100% open source / free software device.
It's not there yet, and ARM machines usually have a ton of closed/proprietary drivers and firmwares.
The effort to get there, even if it will never be completed, is worthwhile, however.
