I've had one of those since my childhood, I was obsessed with trains. These types of whistles are finniky. I'll test mine when I get the chance and let you know how it goes

yea you need to blow them pretty hard, when i was a small kid i couldnt do it so i held it out of the window of our family car while driving down the highway and god it was so loud

You're right, you do have to blow it harder to get the full sound. Might want to lower your input levels on your mic if you give it a shot; they're quite loud :D

I think yours was defective. I've had one in the past and it took no effort at all to produce a nice old fashioned train whistle.
