My Palestinian great grandfather fought on the side of the Ottoman Empire during the Russo-Turkish war of 1877-1878 or as referred in Arabic as Harb al-Muskuf, under the reign of Sultan Abdul Hamid II. He lost his leg during that war and would have been left there to die had it not been for a black African who carried him on his back for several miles where he received necessary medical care. He returned to Palestine, got married, had two sons and four. daughters, one of the sons was my grandfather. My grandfather in return had five sons and three daughters. My father( may he rest in peace) had three sons, including myself, and three daughters. And my children have given me grandchildren. Nineteen last count. Praise Allah. Had it not been for that unknown, selfless black African, and the grace of Allah, none of us would be around today.

I am Ethiooian Orthodox Christian. However, the history of any country and people inspires me.
I am proud of my ancestors, because the name of my country Ethiopia is well remembered in the important history of early Jews, Christians and Muslims. I think it will give us a lesson if you tell us about the good things Ethiopians did in the first challenging times of Islam.
God Bless You All.

My family originates from the Oghuz Boy - Teke Turks who entered Anatolia in 1071 together with Seldjuk Sultan Alp Arslan. Later settled in the mountain area of the Tauruses known as Sarıkeçeli Nomadic Turks in the small city now called Akseki. I love my people all of them, together we are such a huge family, that during my travels all the way up to Kazakhstan, I was considered a brother rather than a tourist just traveling. It's such an amazing thing to be part of this family. Love to all from this YÖRÜK.

Turks indeed had a decisive role in triggering historical major events like the Migration Period, Crusades, shaping the history of Balkans, Islamization of Northern India, Age of Discovery as well as ending the Middle Ages with the conquest of Constantinople, fall of the Roman Empire.

As Uzbek we see ourselves as descendants of both Karakhanids and the Golden Horde dynasties. The name “Uzbek” came from the exact Öz Beg khan. Also Holden Horde was the ancestor for the Uzbek Khanate in Dashti Qipchaq which led by Abulkhair khan, which was the beginning for another Uzbek dynasty - Shaybanids. Then Shaybani state split into three different Uzbek States: Khiva Khanate, Bukharan Emirate and Kokand Khanate. Proud to be an Uzbek muslim 🇺🇿

I am Kazakh and alhamdullilah for the blessing of Islam. Great video, Omar! One side note, Kazakhs didn't became Muslims only after Öz Beg Khan, most of people in the area of Kazakhstan were Muslim prior the Mongol invasions. One of most prominent Turkic preachers of Islam, poet and a famous Sufi Qoja Ahmad Yassawi is regarded as the one who influenced the spread of Islam in Kazakhstan and Central Asia immensely, we revere him a lot and name plenty of things in his honor. He lived 11-12th centuries. Same with Al Farabi and Balasughni. As one could see on a map of Karakhanids, most of their territory lied within Kazakhstan.

Anyway I'm proud of our history and the fact that my ancestors chose the right path, siratul mustaqeem and became Muslim and Kazakhstan is now largest Muslim country by size.
