An M6-Class flare erupted fron Sunspot AR1532 on July 28th, 2012. Earth lies in the the path of the super-heated coronal mass ejection (CME). Geomagnetic storms are possible when the storm arrives.

The time can vary, depending on the initial speed of the blast (which can be up to 2000 km per second!) and the angle at which it departs relative to Earth (the Sun rotates and the Earth, of course revolves around it). Arrival time is usually between 20 and 40 hours, but can be shorter or longer.
