Aurora Frontside, Backside Spots: Solar Storm Forecast 09-07-2018

Показать описание
The first of two chances for aurora is upon us now as the first of two coronal holes we will encounter this week has rotated into the Earth-strike zone. Aurora photographers should be thrilled, as we have multiple chances for light shows at high latitudes and a good possibility for brief aurora down to mid-latitudes. Radio propagation remains poor due to the spotless Sun, but active regions on the Sun's backside hint that a reprieve may be coming in about two weeks. Learn the details of the two expected solar storms from fast solar wind, catch up on more aurora photos from the recent monster solar storm just a week ago, and see why dayside GPS reception should be great this week.

Cell service was spotty and patchy a few days ago in Cincinnati, OH. (39° N). I attempted to watch the last video. Too much eye strain with my vission problems. Well, anyway, do it again; that was a fantastic idea, despite all the "Smokein'-mirrors". LOL

Thanks Tamitha for your weekly forecasts. Very interesting and informative as I am a Radio Ham, and emergency responder these broadcasts are very important. one thing do you know what is going on at the Solar Observatory in New Mexico? The news in the US reports that Federal authorities went in and closed the facility down, and evacuated people from it?
No one seems to know why not even the scientists who work there. Most odd?

I love all the info you give us. Certainly hope you get a chance to get on HF sometime when propagation picks up. 73 de N5NUK.

Thanks for the report, and since I live on the west coast of Florida, I have never seen the Auroras live in person....so thank you very much for the beautiful photos...

Thank you again Tamitha. Always very informative. I wonder what it was like in the 1950's when the flux numbers were estimated to be 140-150+ for years on end. The hams back then had none of the info. you provide for us today, they simply thought that was the norm I suppose. Glad to have you aboard as a radio op., I became a ham in order to experiment with propagation on six meters. Been having fun ever since.

Do you ever get data from the cosmic ray center in Delta, Utah.

Great job. Actually two storms at two different spots to provide some comparative data in regards to radio propagation. One at Hawaii on Sep.12 and the atlantic system on the 14th. Good time to get prepared is now i think.
