A Zippo lighter is a reusable metal lighter produced by Zippo Manufacturing Company of Bradford, Pennsylvania, United States. Thousands of different styles and designs have been made in the eight decades since their introduction, including military versions for specific regiments.

The Zippo Brand dates back to 1932 when the first Zippo pocket lighter was built. Today, the brand enjoys a very high, unaided awareness rate worldwide. Zippo has invested significantly to promote its high-quality products and build a globally recognized brand. Zippo is aggressively protecting its trademark by asserting its legal rights to stop the manufacturing of infringing lighters.

Zippo does not permit unauthorized alterations to genuine Zippo brand lighters and other products by, among other things, the application of artwork, emblems, or other alterations constitutes a serious violation of Zippo’s intellectual property rights which it will enforce in the courts. Regardless of the quality of the alterations, sale of the altered product under the Zippo name is an infringement of Zippo’s trademarks. The world famous ZIPPO trademark is registered on the Principal Register in the United States and in almost every country on Earth.

03:36 - 03:48 : Needs correction. The dates of the inserts and case don't always match.

Case and insert date stamps more often than not do not match i.e. having different months of manufacture due to them being produced at different times and put together at random

I have one comment about your statement about the date engravings needing to be the same on the insert and the case. According to the zippo website it is actually rare to have this be the case since inserts and cases are manufactured separately and are paired up randomly.

There is so many false "information" in this video, I don't know where to start. E. g. the colour of the flints, or the different date stamps on case and insert. Also the text that is stamped on the insert. There are many different versions on different Zippos.
And there are some real differences that are not noticed. No word about the completely different hinge lock, even the flint screw on the red lighter is diffenrent, that is clearly visible in the video.
Sorry, but this video is useless, especially for people that are not familiar with Zippos.

3:00 is incorrect, not all Zippo mechanisms have that bulge. I know for a fact 1998 Zippos do not have it, and probably there are Zippos from other years that don't have it too.

So the dates of the inserts and case don't always match. I've had a couple that I bought new in a store and the insert was off by a year. So that's not always an example of being a fake

Older lighters do not have the bulge on the insert.

I was hoping to see an actual fake Zippo attempting to be an authentic Zippo. This is just a knock off company that made their own lighter similar to Zippo, being called a fake. Nowhere on the lighter does it seem to be trying to come off as a Zippo. It's just a cheap lighter that you can find in any and all truckstops. I regret giving this a view.

My zippo, has two different markings, the bottom of the case has L 14, the inside mechanism has A 15, what does that mean?

Yeappers you can spot a zippo knockoff, it's NOT a forgery or from a company making zippo fakes, it's a company making it's own version of a wicked lighter.
This like saying Honda makes fake cars because they aren't the first car manufacturer. so what is your next video going to be, spot the fake Ronson lighter?
There lighters look a lot like zippo's too.

No offense but pointless. An authentic Zippo will have the zippo trademark on the bottom of the case. That's all you need to know. Zippos come in a lot of shapes and sizes so you can't go by that.
