Steam Deck is now OFFICIALLY the King of Emulation

Batocera has been released for the Steam Deck and it opens a world of possibility for emulating older games on the deck! Playing retro games and system with emulation has never felt this good!

It’s crazy, I literally have all the games from the SNES era to PS3 era of games on this beast. Sure you need to tinker a few bits and bobs, but having the ability to play ps2 and ps3 games on the go FINALLY, makes it all worth it!!

Can’t you just load up the batocera first time, take sd card out of steam deck so it creates all the user folders and such Put it into a PC and just manual transfer roms/ games into the folders?

Now people can do premade steam deck emulation images. 🤔 They probably should wait for stable builds though.

Any size SD you’d reccomend for emulation? Everything ps3 and older should be rather small, probably > 1GB, but I’ve never gotten deep into emulation before and don’t know the size of the operating system

i love this thing at emulation but i just wish they fix the docked 4k resolution issue in game mode already. really want to be able to just dock it, and play it on the tv.

How well does MAME work? I’d imagine the Deck would have no issues running all of the ROMs.

All batocera adds is aesthetics. If anything running the harder to emulate titles/consoles through it kills performance more than it improves it, aswell as diminuishes its compatibility for certain games :p lol.

Mines been collecting dust. Either been to busy, severe back pain, or just haven't felt like taking time for setup.
Mines been a porn streaming device.
Personally not interested in sd OS option. I'd either go with ssd option or internal Windows.
Dont own many Steam games and don't play retro. Bought most pc games from developer release and have Game Pass. Wiping Steam OS might be better option for me once I get around to it.
