If you’re like most people, you’re sick of being mixed-up and confounded by conflicting media reports about the latest research on which foods are good or bad for us. You know what I’m talking about: one day eggs are unhealthy, and the next day they are a miracle food. So, should we avoid or embrace eggs in our diet?

In today’s episode of my series I’m calling Health Bites, I talk about research that has both led to and debunked concerns associated with eating eggs. I also talk about the production of a gut metabolite called TMAO (trimethylamine N-oxide) and how the health of our gut microbiome influences our TMAO levels.

This episode is brought to you by Rupa Health and Levels.

This is so frustrating, no matter what the food is there is some doctor or research saying opposing things. I feel at this point the only healthy thing to do is just not to eat anything, ever.

What do you mean, nobody eats 4 eggs a day? Dr. Berg does. And I have been eating 4 eggs a day for a couple of years. They're great!

In my opinion, the biggest mistake is to follow a certain diet like keto, carnivore, vegan, vegetarian, low carb, high carb etc. because by following a certain diet we ignore some other beneficial nutritious foods which are necessary for human body. For example, vegans don’t eat meat while meat is a good thing and on the other hand carnivores don’t eat vegetables which are very necessary too. To overcome on my health concerns, I included almost everything that I lik to eat and it worked very well. The only thing I removed from my diet is excessive sugar. Other than refined sugar, I consume meat, eggs, fish, vegetables, legumes and fruits. I am healthy and have no health issues now.

Totally agree with your findings👏🏻 I’m a Natural Health practitioner, and have done this for patients, and myself. Eggs and sardines, fermented cheese and nuts do wonders for health‼️

Daily 2-3 eggs. Cholesterol in my case seems tied to proper, regular B.M. and not always what I'm eating.❤ By the way I'm female, 65, not as active as i should be, survivor of Lyme disease and hoping to see 80. I've cut out junk and cook my own meals, mostly. Some eating out and healthy choices and listen to my body.

I like the fact that he acknowledges that it can get super complicated real fast because there are many variables...Sounds like if you eat healthy then you will most likely have better gut health, better gut health leads you in a positive direction....Good to hear the news about eggs...I was surprised that he did not discuss the difference between pasture raised more organically raised egg producing chickens vs factory chickens

The ONLY doctors I trust are Naturopathic doctors! They are highly trained in Nutrition! I once had a talk with a secretary at the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon. She told me her regular MD told her there was nothing he could do about her constant black - outs! She was a Type I Diabetic. The Naturopathic doctor took a blood sample, and told her "You are deficit in Chromium . If you are deficit in Chromium your Insulin will not work! Eat this, this and this! She followed his instructions. No more blackouts! She still is diabetic but she isn't blacking out anymore! 🤗🤗🤗🌲🌄🌲🇩🇪🇨🇭🇺🇲💙

What about egg consumption for type 1 diabetic? After reading the “Mastering Diabetes” book, they are so against eggs it’s terrifying. The little research for diabetic type 1s is so overwhelming! Im 22 years old and been diabetic for 7 years

A long time ago I participated in a study at NIH, and later on I spoke with one of the researchers about cholesterol. And one of my questions was how many eggs can or can I not eat will it effect my cholesterol. There was no clear answer to that. Because there's so many food items that contain eggs. Just like some medications work for people and for others not. There was a lot unknown about cholesterol. My question has been definitely answered.

The issue is not so much as if something is good or bad for us on a daily basis but rather are we eating in a way optimal for our health. To get there we need to have a discussion with our healthcare providers and review our labs. What might not impact one person may affect another, even someone related may have different needs. Many communities offer healthcare screening for free and that is a good place to start. Nutritionist, dietitians also offer these services and thankfully more healthcare providers are upping their education in this area.
