Watch stuff and learn and chill hi whatsup ⚔️👋🧐

Hi everyone! I'm an American from the Northeast (New England). I want to create a watering hole for people who want to discuss, learn and teach about history through YouTube videos which you guys recommend to me through the comment section or over on Discord. Let's be respectful but, just as importantly, not be afraid to question any and everything about historical records in order to give us the most accurate representation of the history of our species and of our planet!

5:14 They sold Alaska to the US, because they had a war in Crimea against Britain and France and Russia needed money after the catastrophic loss it had.

The Netherlands wasn’t mentioned, but the Dutch government was actually pretty worried about its “new” big neighbor to the east. Contrary to the strong alliance between Berlin and The Hague today. New defenses constructions, like the Defense Line of Amsterdam were built. Some historians think that this construction, among other things, kept the Netherlands neutral during World War One.

It took a while until the Brits found out the avantage of having a second country beside France they could blame for their failures. 🤣

They reacted badly ;-( ... you meant 1871. Initially thought you meant 1990 ;-) Alaska was sold to the US, because Russia was friendly with the US, and didn't want to fight Canada (part of Great Game with British Empire) ... in 1867 before German unification.

Actually the UK was very pleased to see the reunification of Germany, mainly because it spelled the end of the Soviet Union. Edit: I assumed you were meaning the reunification of Germany in 1990.
