1 John 1:9
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

"What do you mean by that" is a killer for anyone who doesn't have a solid argument, and that goes for more than just Biblical arguments.

The bible is an anvil.
The hammers beat away on the anvil.
The hammers eventually break, but the anvil remains.

"Heaven and Earth shall pass away, but My word will never pass away."

1. I mean that newer versions of the bible are different from the older versions.
2. The countless different versions of the bible.
3. Yes, ive considered that. You could never know how accurate you are to the original if you dont have the original. And you just admitted that you know the bible has been changed. So thanks for agreeing with me.

What???
How did you come to that conclusion Frank?
How do you know it was written by eyewitnesses?

"When did you ever read it?"
(Spoilers: they rarely ever have.)

I don’t think it so much as the bible has changed, but rather the translations and interpretations that change. Personally, it would be nice to be able to talk to the actual folks that put ink to papyrus and get their thoughts about what they wrote.

Don’t be surprised if that last question doesn’t sway them. As a former atheist, I know that I would have blocked out such an answer. However the first 2 questions are golden because most atheist argue by saying that they need incontrovertible proof to believe in the Bible, yet they fail to apply that standard to their own pet beliefs. So if they assert that the Bible is unreliable because of centuries of hand copying, asking them for proof for those assertions will help make them aware of the fact that they can believe something without a lot of evidence if they already agree with it.

That doesn’t mean they’ll come around that very moment. Their ego is at stake. But since their egos tend to be built upon a concept rationality comprised of intellectual rigor, consistency & supposed impartiality, pointing out their own inconsistencies & biases can begin to make them question their beliefs & prepare the seeds of Christ to eventually take root when they are ready

The Book of Isaiah in the Dead Sea scrolls was found to be translated very accurately when compared to the Book of Isaiah we read today. Proving that accuracy was imperitive all along.

These questions are Columbo questions taught in "Tactics" by Greg Koukl. Read the book to find out more information.

My position is that books are written by people and people can be mistaken even when quoting eye witnesses. When a book does not comport with the reality I have experienced I take the position of distrusting it until there is evidence of the questionable claims. For example, the Bible says that Christians will be able to command mountains to be hurled into the sea. If I see Christians doing such things I will re-evaluate this position.

People of all kinds please state if your theists, atheists, agnostics or any combination of those and then if willing participate in the test. As well, looking for 5 good moral theist questions for atheists/agnostics.

#1 You see a child drowning in a shallow pool and notice a person just watching that is able to save the child with no risk to themselves but is not, is that person moral?
#2 If you go to save the child, the man tells you to stop as he was told it was for the greater good, but he does not know what that is, do you continue to save the child or stop?
#3 Is it just to punish innocent people for the crimes of others?
#4 If you were able to stop it and knew a person was about to grape a child would you stop it?
#5 Would you consider an all knowing parent who put their kids in a room with a poison fruit and told the kids not to eat it but then also put a supernatural con artist in the room with the children knowing the con artist will get the kids to eat the fruit and the parent does nothing to stop it a good parent?

Now these are some questions ( modified ) from a christian just to try and have balance.

The historical reliability was what brought me to saving faith. I pray others will also see that that is God's fingerprint.

Biblical scholarship has a consensus that they’re not eyewitnesses, so you have nowhere to go? The four gospels are anonymous.

So...
1. Stall.
2. Stall and try to shift the burden of evidence.
3. Present an ancient hypothesis about how the gospels came to be as evidence and hope your opponent hasn't read anything written on this since the mid 1800s.

These accusations don't have anything behind them but personal motives. Most of them are copied word for word from some website or favorite social media atheist who tells them what they want to hear. Much like the alleged Biblical contradictions, they're inherently self serving to justify one's own unbelief. Empty words to throw around to sound like knowledge but are anything but.

Frank -
How do you know the Bible has been changed.?

Me -
The Bible itself testifies to it. That must be one of the Books (of the Old Testament) you decided to skip over, Frank.

Dr. Turek inspires me to deep dive in understanding my faith in Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior.

His candor and intelligent way if speaking Bible study is so disarming and makes agnostics and atheists at minimum want to listen to him. That my friends is him planting seeds into the minds of those who question Christian faith.✝️🙏

No Muslim has ever overcome the argument of their own history of how Islam came about from Muhammad.
They don’t learn that being Muslim. So when they do learn that, they have nothing to argue about after. Then again most of them are too scared to go looking after you tell them about it.

Yall coming for the bible obviously have no working knowledge about how the rest history has been recorded. Ironic y'all believe less valid documents over more valid based off of 'validity' (details correlate, timeline close to event, number of ancient copies found).
