I think you could put a NFC tag on the case to activate the focus automatically when its "docked" on the dashboard

The Form Factor of the iPad is very flexible ergonomic and portable. Apple GPS Maps for route-finding works very well due to the large screen plus the ability to use the iPad for other functions also eg music, web etc. The custom-made holder for the car is very useful for clear viewing of the iPad as dashboard, that's a clever idea to custom make one.

The fact that I was thinking about this idea 30 mins ago and this video pops up on my YouTube is amazing! 🙌🏻

Great video! Please make sure your background music is quieter in the future, it's really hard to hear you over the loud music. But this is a great idea!

I appreciate the attention to detail on both the mount and the shortcut integrations. It’s clear, you not only had the vision but the knowledge to execute. “Execution is the chariot of genius!” 👏🏼

Wow! This is a boss level mod! In my case I'm presently using my iPhone with a MagSafe mount and wireless charger, and that works pretty well for me. But there are certainly times where more screen real estate would definitely work better. Impressive! 👌

I've seen a video or two many years ago where some people installed first or second generation iPads in their 90s or 2000s cars, from the likes of Mighty Car Mods, Soundman Car Audio, and "GadgetFreeway", but I find it cool to actually see someone doing the same thing but with a newer iPad model and thus, a much newer version of iPadOS with more features!

Back in 2007 I worked as a development engineer in human machine interface for an auto company. We purchased an SUV to fit with products consistent with our future vision. In early meetings I presented my vision where the smartphone carried all personalization and entertainment, and physical buttons and controls related to these functions would be assigned by that device.
The group sat dumbfounded. I had just foretold the end of in car infotainment growth, and it made complete sense. The company rejected my direction because it limited growth "share". They instead struggled to produce lame functions that were always obsolete from day one.
Your iPad solution in this video is the best approximation I have seen to my concept, but it still lacks access to fixed controls in the vehicle.

This is so well done. Your animations and editing are excellent! I wish we could run native CarPlay on the iPad, but this is a great option. I loved some of the tips like using the AC to cool the iPad and increasing the system font size. I was thinking it wouldn't be smart to block the vents, but this makes it functional too!

Great video, background music was unnecessary and too loud.

Loved the idea and adored your animations. The styling was superb. I think most automakers should just add an iPad as their CarPlay/Android Auto integration, the iPad layout just works, and it's still kind of embarrassing that they pour so much into R/D and the infotainment system is just, every single time, an afterthought. Thank you!

Thank you!!! I’ve been daydreaming about this since 2010. I have an old Jag that I’ve refused to replace the system on because I knew this was possible. It’s perfect!!!

I’ve been doing this for years. I utilize the cd player slot in my car and use a modified metal deck plate for the base along with some magnets attached to the rear of my iPad. It keeps the iPad low and does not obstruct my driving view. This works great on the 10.9 iPad, good with my 12.9 iPad but I think the iPad mini would be the GOAT.

Tip - set your automation to run when your iPad connects to your car Bluetooth so you don’t need to activate it each time unless of course you wish to.

Great video, I’ve always wanted to do this for my X5 since having a Tesla but was worried about iPad Pro dropping and breaking. I’ve now got 2 mag mounts in the air vent to hold it firmly in place. 😅

Rad idea, definitely insure your voiceover is a bit louder than your background music. Usually in my editor with louder tracks like this, I'll have them hover around the -20db to -26db depending on the track.

I have a 12.9 inch iPad and I literally think that’s all the time and how good of an idea it would be and it’s so nice to see someone finally make that idea of reality and it actually works really well too as you’ve demonstrated with the speed on the side just like a Tesla keep it up :3

Keep up the good work!
My recommendation for your growing channel is that kindly keep the music volume a bit lower than your voice since it was a bit difficult to understand your voice. Other than that, best work. I will surely try this with the iPad😊

I’m glad you added some vocals to the background music

very informative and great content. one suggestion however, please lower the background music as it was a bit distracting.
