How to fix an SD card showing the wrong data size

On this episode of Crazy Will Tech Sho,w I show you how to fix an SD card showing the wrong data size. So I had this 32 gigabyte microSD card that I was going to use for a camera review. I popped it into the camera and it showed 15 seconds of record time. I’m like no way, so I formatted on the camera no change. Finally put it into the computer to find my 32 gigabyte sd card is showing 46 megabytes. I’m like what’s going on, tried reformatting it and diagnosing it. Nothing was working still 46 megabytes. After thinking about it and remembering I put an image on the SD card I remembered a way of formatting it that hasn't failed me yet. So let me show you what I did to get it working again.

this works in the rarest of cases. Once the Partition table is lost or destroyed, its very very hard and time consuming to restore/rebuild it. Even if you manage to do so, thats likely as far as youll get.
Please, if your SD card is for example 32gb but it shows as 30 or 32mb RAW format then dont waste your time, just buy a new one.

Mate THANKS so much. Just built a Norns Shield and had a corruption, went to re-format the card on the PC. Half way through the format error ....bricked the card . None of my computers would show any capacity and or read or write to the card. I was about to bin it and saw your perfect ann up and running again. Cheers Mate.

In my case SD Formatter would not work. Said format failed. I used windows disk management an found two volumes on the sd card. I deleted the active volume and that made it just one 16gb span. Now SD card formatter worked fine.

thanks for the tutorial sadly it didn't seem to work for me my 128gb SD card still only shows 1, 86GB max storage capacity even the formatter seems to only find as much. the SD card was working perfectly for almost two years now

Thank you very much! Although the suggested application failed in my case, the Windows 10 in house format application managed to recognise the correct capacity of the sd card only after I used the SD Card Formatter!😲🙏

My SD card had 46 gigs of space, but was saying it only had 16gigs of space. I just had to click on other and disk utility and my card n it showed 46 gigs immediately.
