About Malaysia Airlines (from Wikipedia):
Malaysia Airlines Berhad (MAB; Malay: Penerbangan Malaysia Berhad), formerly known as Malaysian Airline System (MAS; Sistem Penerbangan Malaysia), and branded as Malaysia Airlines, is the flag carrier of Malaysia and a member of the Oneworld airline alliance. (The MAS initials are still being kept by subsidiaries MASkargo and MASwings.) The company headquarters are at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. In August 2014, the Malaysian government's sovereign wealth fund Khazanah Nasional—which then owned 69.37% of the airline—announced its intention to purchase the remaining ownership from minority shareholders and delist the airline from Malaysia's stock exchange, thereby renationalising the airline. It operates primarily from its main hub Kuala Lumpur International Airport to destinations throughout Asia, Oceania and Europe, as well as its secondary hub Kota Kinabalu International Airport to Taipei and Tokyo (Narita).

About Airbus A330-300 (from Wikipedia):
Powered by two General Electric CF6-80E1, Pratt & Whitney PW4000, or Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines, the 63.69 m (208 ft 11 in) long Airbus A330−300 has a range of 11,750 km (6,340 nmi; 7,300 mi), typically carries 277 passengers with a 440 exit limit and 32 LD3 containers.[96] It received European and American certification on 21 October 1993 after 420 test flights over 1,100 hours.[133] The −300 entered service on 16 January 1994.[37] The A330-300 is based on a stretched A300 fuselage but with new wings, stabilizers and fly-by-wire systems

As a Singaporean, I think MH hasn’t been getting the credit it deserves, perhaps due to the series of events it has suffered back in 2014. While SQ crew is always impeccable and obliging, but they can be super robotic and forced. MH crew on the other hand, are always more easy going and dare I say, genuine. That said, I wish they open more routes so that I don’t have to limit my options to just Emirates, Qatar, Finnair and Lufthansa every time I make a trip to Europe.

While they say MH cannot beat SQ or Emirates, etc because they went down after 2 tragic incidents. This is what I felt after flying back with them last March -- despite two tragic incidents that caught the scrutiny of the world and COVID, and yet they still are standing tall, flying and the crew still exudes the legendary Malaysian Hospitality the moment you step into the plane -- in my books they are my award winning Malaysian airline.

As Malaysian, I felt really good seeing so many good comments on MAS, I really hope that Malaysian airlines will return to her glory again in years to come .

I used to be a super fan of Malaysia Airlines back in 2011. I was working on a project in Kuala Lumpur and was blown away by the super high quality of service, extremely kind and attentive flight attendants, plus good food. Also, the Kuala Lumpur airport is quite nice too.

I'm sure you're aware already Dan, but if not, Malaysia Airlines is finally upgrading their A330-300s to A330neos, with the first route to get the new planes being KL to Melbourne at the end of this year.

About 20 or so years ago malaysia airlines was said in the same breath as Singapore airlines. It’s gone through some tough times, and is rife with politics internally ; but the in flight crew have always been outstanding imo. One of the most graceful crew and I always feel like I’m at home the moment I board a MH flight

Malaysian here. Dan, thank you for sharing your experience and thoughts about flying with an airline near and dear to my heart since I was a child. I always believed in my national airline as much I believe in foreign airlines. It is lovely to see you enjoyed your flight to my homeland. Tbh, if I were to fly anywhere that MAS is able to get to, I’ll take it over any other first to show my love and support for MAS. 🥰✨

To MAS, I’m so proud of you for your resilience and commitment to top notch service despite everything that we went through. You guys still come up strong as you always are. Keep up your good work! ❤

I use to be a part of Malaysia Airlines Cabin crew way back in those glorious years of the 90's. I still feel proud for ever being a part of them. Forever Love MH.❤️

My experiences of MA have been very positive. It has notably hard-working cabin-crews. And the stewardess uniform is one of the most attractive in the skies.
Nice review.

Appreciate you showing the other food options, Dan - gives a better idea of what's available for us non-vegans 👍

Used to fly regularly with MAS in economy and business between lomdon and KL. MAS were world class in the 2000s and my preferred airline, hands down. As soon as you stepped on board in London, you were already in Malaysia. The two unfortunate tragedies and economic downturn in Malaysia, the boom of other high quality and affordable airlines operating via the middle east and Turkey, then COVID challenged MAS. I'm still waiting for them to bounce back and bring back flights to Europe other than London as i no longer live there. What happened to them is unfortunate but i and many others still have faith in the national carrier of Malaysia and can't wait to step foot in their cabin again once its convenient. I have so many memories and stories from my many flights back and forth and its thanks to the MAS cabin crew and one pilot that a scared, sky fearing teenager is now someone who loves flight and is comfortable on board any plane. I hope they return to their former glory and reputation, they were and still are an incredibly safe and well maintained airline outside of the two incidents and dont deserve the fear some people still have of flying with them.

An airline hit with the worst of misfortunes known.

Yet there are room for improvements & their order for the a330neo.

Hi Dan glad that you enjoyed the Malaysian Hospitality. Met you at the aircraft door before you boarded the flight.

its sad that Malaysia Airlines is only known by most people for the disappearance of MH370, when in fact it had less than 5 fatal crashes in its 77years history

My Malaysian flights were always an inexpensive upgrade. I always snagged a regional business class seat on their lowest upgrade bid (which includes full lounge access), and the one time I was stuck in economy was a 5th Freedom flight from Japan to California in a cabin so empty everyone had multiple rows to spread out on 🇲🇾😎

Interestingly, for the past month and even as of this writing, Malaysia Airlines have been flying this route (MH165) with A350s. I know someone who arrived from Doha on this flight and it is on the A350.

This particular plane you were onboard is now used on the Melbourne-KL route.
