Different scary from Damrau, and maybe more crazy. Got all the notes, got all the drama. Staging and costumes abysmal, but you can't blame Miklosa for that. She delivered excellently! (Shoving the dagger into the daughter's hand and then running away was kinda clever and effective, but hardly what Mozart had in mind.)

So glad this has better quality, this is my favorite performance of this piece. Every other Queen of the Night just starts randomly screaming for no reason, but not Erika's, her Queen is doing a maniatical laughter, it's brilliant.

What an incredible voice! Didn’t hit every note but this song is near impossible even for the best sopranos.

The setting is bizarre and the queen is the most disturbing one I’ve ever seen. It almost makes this seem like this is a dream sequence.

Remember she represents the empress of Austria-Hungary cursing her own people. A curse that lasted for at least the next 170 years, and may never end.
