Tackling Mozart’s most famous of arias has been on my to-do list for ages, and I’m so happy to finally share it with you all! It was about time to have it performed on the theremin, don’t you think? 😊

All musical accompaniment created by my vocals 🎶

Carolina Eyck – theremin & voice
A L Costa – art direction
Marc Samper – cinematography
Hans Griepentrog – opera coach

There is no instrument that looks like the player is casting magic more than the theremin. Its absolutely one of those niche instruments that are just delightful

O…M…G! If there is one piece that I thought would be literally impossible to play on the theremin, I would have bet that “Queen of the Night” would be the number one contender for that designation! . . . and yet here you are playing it! Pure VIRTUOSITY! AMAZING! BRAVA!!!

Performing such a difficult opera aria on theremin with perfect vocal accompaniment - this deserves all the praise. This puts the usability of the theremin in classical music into a new dimension. This is a real value, a world-class achievement. Bravo Carolina! I know that it is a huge amount of work to rehearse and make such a recording, but I still encourage you to make many more similar recordings.

The part starting at 1:20 sounds like a real voice! I love how staccato you made each note

I've never seen anyone who actually seriously played the theremin. It is very creatively inspiring to see you play this easily dismissed instrument with such skill.

I commented earlier on my impression of Carolina's work....but realize how little that praise was. I just went back and watched this production several times again...analyzing every part of it. The incredible skill required to put something like this together is nothing short of spectacular! Every aspect of this "Queen Of The Night" presentation is 100% Carolina and no one else! She has recorded all the voice parts, harmonies, blends, etc - by herself!! The "little theater" aspect is marvelous to see! Her level of performance expertise demonstrates the results of uncounted hours of dedicated practice to master the Theremin - no easy task for anyone! As a professional musician for well over 50 years, I dismissed the Theremin as a toy and never considered it could be used in a serious manner. How wrong I have been after watching and listening to Carolina's exhibition!!! PROPS, Carolina! Kudos and RESPECT! Can't wait to see what your next THEREMIN adventure will be to delight us with your efforts! John

Wow! I've never heard scales/arpeggios played on a theremin with such accuracy! Amazing performance! Beautiful video and voice as well, thank you.

She also invented her own technique that is being adopted by other players. Genius!

I've heard other theremin players try this aria, but this is the first rendition with such precise intonation, dynamics and timing. This arrangement with the voice as accompanyment is also really wonderful. You prove yourself to be queen of the theremin! I like the aesthetics of your videos too, I wonder how many people realize that with wrappings that are electrically conductive, the theremin can't actually be played. Of course most music videos are made after the audio has been recorded, mixed and mastered. Cool how the video kind of includes some making of / behind the scenes footage. You're moving in interesting directions, Carolina, keep on keeping on. 🥰👌

This is amazing! This level of playing a theremin is just like any other professional that plays an instrument. You still have to tune, remember the right hand positions to make the right sound, and practice a lot to play well. You should do a collaboration with Two Set Violin. They are always looking for ways to promote classical music, not just for violins, but for all instruments!

IMPRESSIVE!!!! I would have bet the LAST instrument in existence to play Mozart's Queen of the Night Aria would be a "THEREMIN" !!!! THANK YOU Carolina, for opening an old musician's eyes (and ears!). John

This is my first time watching your videos/channel....let me get this straight - you play the theramin, and flawlessly, from what I can hear. You can sing quite well, from what I can hear. You have the talent to make beautiful arts/crafts, specifically that stunning opera stage panorama.

Consider me blown away, Carolina! You are blessed and gifted! Stunning video, for both the eyes and ears!

Your talent goes beyond profound. The theremin was waiting 100 years for someone to make it come alive, and here you are!
