One must also ask, “Why is it even called the ‘Melchizedek Priesthood’ to begin with.” Hebrews 7:3 tells us that it is because, unlike the Jews who had genealogical records for everyone, they had no records of Melchizedek’s birth or death. It appeared as though he had “no beginning or no end.” Likewise, only of Christ could we say that he “has no beginning or end.” Christ is the only priest whose priesthood is eternal. This is *why* it’s called the Melchizedek priesthood, and it’s also why *only* Christ can hold this priesthood.

Another thing, just an honest question, what could Romans 7:17 mean? It says: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.“ The Bible claims we will partake of the glory of Christ through His grace.

The “works” though they will not save us, are still necessary, because these “works” should be bringing others to Jesus Christ, and having His power makes bringing souls to Him so much easier.

And that, friends, is the basis of the plan of happiness 😇

This is what Hebrew 7:17 says:

“For he testifieth, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec”.

There’s nowhere in the Bible that says Jesus Christ is the only one that can hold the Melchizedek Priesthood.
This shows how little you know of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

The prophets and apostles have also held this Melchizedek priesthood. Were it not so we would not have a Bible. The Bible is revelation from God. Revelations for the Church such as the books in the Bible are given to those with this priesthood. The priesthood is the authority to act in the name of God. It is the power needed to govern the church. Constant revelation is needed to prevent the devil from causing descensions and breaking the church apart. The church did break apart into many different churches after the Apostles were killed confusing many. However, through the grace of God the Priesthood has been restored along with the original church! This includes the restoration of revelation given to living Apostles and Prophets. Much new revelation has been given for us that pertains to our day! All of this new revelation, as does the Bible, points to Jesus Christ and that he is the only path to God. He is our Savior and Redeemer and only hope. I invite you to come, study sincerely, and find out if what I say is true. I’m confident that you will find that the fruits born by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints are precious and delicious indeed!

Sure I agree Jesus is the ultimate high priest. But that doesn’t mean the Apostles weren’t Valid Bishops or that their successor’s aren’t Valid Priest and Bishops

It always disgusted me that Mormons take it upon themselves to think they alone have this magical power, and they call themselves Saints. Yep, I was born and bred LDS through and through yet those things always made my skin crawl (along with about 800 things about “The Church”. Calling it that is even annoying.

2. During His earthly ministry, Jesus sent His Apostles to preach to all people; only those authorized by Jesus could bless, perform other ordinances, and ordain bishops, evangelists, deacons, etc.
