I like his outlook and know where he's coming from. A drunk leaving a Fourth of July BBQ hit my car in 1999. I too had to learn to walk again and wear braces on my right side as needed to keep my ankle and knee from buckling. I am convinced it changed my life for the better. Instead of becoming an antique auto restorer (mainly Studebaker and Packard) like my dad I went into economics and finance and am now a securities litigation consultant and have been able to buy a tree farm, saw mill, and a modest home in the woods where I am more likely to see a bear than another human. I have a friend who sustained a brain injury in a motorcycle accident six months ago and he is finally starting to come around and change from being bitter to grateful. It took me a long time too, but I know he'll get there like I did.
