I'm a planetary geologist who studies the Moon, and I (and all my colleagues) can explain why the near side has the dark splotches (called "maria" or "seas" in Latin) and the far side does not.
The structure of the Moon is broken into 2 main layers: anorthositic crust and a gabbroic mantle. The anorthositic crust is that gray/white stuff you see at the surface and it has more calcium and aluminum. The gabbroic mantle is a subsurface layer made up of more iron and magnesium. The maria are from large impact craters that occurred 3.5 to 4 billion years ago. The impacts were so deep that they exposed the mantle, melted it, and then recrystallized it as a black igneous rock called basalt.
So, why are maria only on the near side? The far side has a thicker crust, so, the large asteroid impacts did not reach the gabbroic mantle.
Why does the far side have a thicker crust? The Moon formed while the Earth was still a ball of magma, and the heat from the Earth would have caused the calcium and aluminum on the Moon to gravitate towards the far side since it would have been "cooler".
What will Chang'e 6 find on the far side? Potentially, the oldest samples on the Moon since that is mostly the pristine crust.

At least 80% of their scientists are in their 30s and thousands more in their 20s are pursuing their advance degree in various space engineering studies. To top it up, the government is providing generous funding and other supports to ensure their space program will continue as planned.
