Living tiny eliminates a huge amount of stress. Everything is close and simple. Cleaning is easier. Owning less things but of higher quality means more thoughtfulness about immediate surroundings. When you get older and start forgetting why you went into one room, the last room is just four feet away. LOL

Two years ago, we went down to one income so I could stay home with our son and our budgeting completely changed. I can no longer buy anything I want, but I find I don’t need much. We cook from scratch, and that makes the days fly by so there is no time for shopping aimlessly and we downsized our home from 4000 sq ft to 1400 sq ft. Some think this is a downgrade, but mentally and emotionally it’s been a major upgrade and I no longer feel in competition with others. Of course at times, buying something new is a necessity, but more often than not I am able to pick up “want” and even need items at thrift stores and estate sales. Kudos to you on slow living as well and for creating hygge in your home.

You are a girl after my own heart. I detest waste and recycle everything, even though I'm economicaly very stable. I cook everyday and absolutely ADORE it. I also grow most of my veggies . But, i think it's atrocious that in this modern day and age the system is deliberately making people poor. Shame on them !!!!

I have an estate sale business so I’ve seen the stress accumulation causes. People just keep buying and sometimes they have boxes of new items unopened. So I’m very conscious of this. I keep very little. I prefer good used items, things that are useful. I re-use and recycle things. I cook, read and spend time outdoors. Simple things make me the happiest.

If you keep your cauli leaves and stalk and cook them in veggie stock with some dried herbs or curry spices then blend you get a gorgeous soup which is lovely and light for the warmer months or add in rice or potato in the winter for a heartier soup, add a little nutritional yeast on top for a lovely cheesy taste.

I have been shifting my life to a small village from a big city. There are mountains, fields, rivers, and clean water. The more I live in the village, the less money I use, and the more rich lifestyle. We can be more creative how to enjoy every day. I really agree with your video.

Being in nature helps so much with your mental health. I too live in the countryside, I’m retired now after 40 years of a pressured working life. I’m also widowed. But I thank the universe every day for the job I loved, the marriage I had, my family and friends, my 2 dogs, and I now have an allotment where I grow my own vegetables and fruit, and I love to sew my own wardrobe. I am now a new subscriber, I think I’ve found a kindred spirit, x x

Living a simpler, minimalist, low waste vegan life in my small house has given me the luxury of being able to live a life that aligns with my soul and values. A life that benefits my future and not societies. Cheers from Orange County, California.

As a librarian, it makes me very happy to hear that you use the library. ❤ A great thing about the Norwegian library system is that you can use a National library search and order books from all over Norway to pick up at your local library. All for free of course.

We don't have a lot of charity shops here, and getting second hand books can be harder most places than getting them from the library.

Have you ever tried Better World Books? I have tried them once...

Just a little tip, leave the skin on your butternut squash, it stops it going mushy and tastes lovely, I learnt this on a Carribean cookery course .

So beautiful and inspiring video. I am living a slow and simple life in Norway. I live a good life with little money. I save so much money because of my lifestyle, like you do. I like your dog, I am living with a Boarder Collie too. Sending you a hug from Norway 🌿💚

I live in West Virginia in the mountains. I take living in this area often for granted. I am going to try to get out and enjoy the area more.

Making your own cleaning products is the way to go. Some much cheaper and planet friendly 🌿

Cooking from scratch is likely to be cheaper & will certainly be healthier. You usually get more for your money. It depends on what you are cooking & if it’s a one off. You have to take cooking costs into account too. Planning meals. Shopping online & sticking to a budget. Meal prep & freezing surplus veg. Using all of your oven instead of just for one item. I use a food sealer so when I put meats, often divided, into the freezer they last longer & look better.

On the rare occasion when I buy a book (I too live in the library; it’s my “third place”), I purchase it from a small, independent, local bookstore.

Taking walks and reading books by browsing on the bookshelves of my home and in my library are also two of my favorite past-times :)

This channel is right up my alley! I’m a HSP, introvert, bookish, hippy, nature lover, artist, and to top it off Scotland is always in my heart. We lived there 3 years and my first baby was born there 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 ❤
