This video clarifies what I'm dealing with, replacing the toilet found out the floor flange sites over a quarter inch deep so this is what I need I purchased the extra thick was seal but didn't feel that it would provide a great seal so I purchased the Danco Perfect Seal this one sits higher then the others thank you for this video.

This will be second time replacing seal after about 15 years. Yes, I did have to use 2 wax rings the first time because it was not enough. NO, I don't want to do this again myself but I am capable of doing this and it is cold and snowing and not much else to do. Thanks for the video. I will need to watch another to get the jest of removing the toilet. I think the current screws are rusted and bent. SO that is step one. I bought 4 different types of seals hoping to elliminate the 5 normal trips back to the hardware store. Where's a guy when you need one.

thank you... thank you for the tip. this is very helpful. my toilet was leaking since 2017 at the time, i replaced the flange but i used just a regular wax. we recently just had a termite inspection and he told me that there's a leak under the toilet. i was afraid it was a cracked pipe until i crawl under and noticed the leak was coming from the lip of the flange. i saw your video and also used the danko seal. now i can comfortably sleep at night knowing the leak will no longer be there. 😉

Used this when I was in a pinch and pulled a toilet out and saw the flange was at least 1/2 below floor level. The blue seal helped make up the extra height needed. The inner diameter maybe a little too small as noted by other comments. Will see how it goes. I think they should have the inner black ring extend down into the flange a little deeper like normal wax rings do.

Note that the blue part of the Perfect Seal assembly is an optional piece, used only if its extra "reach" is needed (when the existing flange is sunk down in the floor). The instructions that come with the Perfect Seal cover that.

Another common question is: where should the pipe-mounted flange sit? Should it be on the base surface (wood or cement), or should it be sitting on top of the finished floor? The correct answer is - on top of the finished floor. So if you add tile, factor in cutting out the old flange, install the tile, then install a new flange. Yes, the Perfect Seal part "can" work with the existing flange, but I like to replace it anyway because often, the new floor surface and the old flange aren't always parallel.
