I usually buy 2 wax rings a reinforced one and a plain one. I take some wax from the non reinforced ring and I smear it in the bottom of the toilet to make the other one stick. I also smear a bit on the flange so it has a nice tight seal.

Warm your wax ring, under warm water. put it in a plastic bag if you don't want to get it wet. The wax is a little stickier then.

U can use a lighter to, melt it a bit then, stick it onto the bottom of tank, sit will stick better
