I've sold clothes 3 times. The most I made in one trip was $167. I source old clothing from the goodwill outlet/bins. I keep all the good and vintage stuff to sell online and sell the rest to Platos and other stores like that

Omg, I have such a love/hate with Plato's Closet!!! They're so picky with what they take, lol!!!! So smart to call ahead and see what items they're looking for right now! I need to start doing that :) I can't believe the wait was two hours!!! That's insane! Lol, that's annoying they didn't look through everything :(

I used to work at Plato’s Closet back in my college days. As far as cutting out tags… that could work for some things but they also know exactly how old the clothes are, based on the label tags of major brands. Most label tags change every so often.
They have a literal book (that they have for reference) of every major brands tags (Abercrombie, express, Gap, forever 21, Zara, etc…) so they don’t even look at clothes w older tags. Could be why yours didn’t appear to be seen.
If you have something that looks like a new style and good condition, maybe trying to cut the label tags then could work in your benefit 🤷🏻‍♀️
I guess that’s a gamble but someone could try it! Maybe they wouldn’t pass on it. Not sure on that though. Just a thought.

Resell stores can’t buy everything people bring in. They buy what sells for them, it’s about making profit, not just paying customers for cash. It’s not a pond shop. Maybe Pink leggings haven’t been selling… etc.

Which tags do you cut? I don’t want to unnecessarily cut out a tag but really think taking those out can help. Like, I’ve found some one with pretty clear dates to cut, but are there others numbers that tell them how old something is?

They never take my stuff. Just a few items for pennies. But I have noticed some things morning shift didnt take, I went later in the evening they took. So I guess it depends on the person. One girl that is always there I can't stand so she never takes my stuff
