Meanwhile south Jersey Plato’s “we took 53 items for 53 cents”

i used to work at a plato's location in PA and i can confirm that the way we purchase items is absolutely ridiculous. we will buy things that haven't sold in forever and pass on things that go out the door everyday. and, give hardly any money for it

so true LOL I’ve been in there many times with boxes of aritzia clothing and only got a couple hundred dollars but one time i donated a broken men’s point zero jacket and they gave me almost 350$ which was more than i even paid for it…they’re so weird

I remember the one time I went to Plato’s and they gave me $75 for a pair of miss me jeans.

I'm positive that if you looked you'd find a consignment shop in your area that would take it all and actually give good prices

i drove 40 minutes to the plato’s closet on LI and they took 6 items for $10.20. and the stuff they took was like … a plain t shirt

They said my clothes were too dressy and actually bought stuff i almost threw in the trash. I donated most of my clothes to the boys and girls club and open door mission .

Don’t sell your stuff. Donate it and get receipts. The gov then allows you to price your own stuff at “consignment store” pricing. You name your own consignment store pricing and deduct that off your taxes.

At mine they tried to give me less than 5bucks for a Spartina 449 dress that was brand new never worn with the tags. The dress costs $168 brand new.

GIRL DONT GO TO PLATOS!!!! find a clothes mentor near you i promise!! it’s the same buying process but they take higher end brands and only women’s clothes, no junior sizes or men’s. they’ll give you 25-30% of what they sell it for in store and it adds up a lot more than plato’s does.

I used to donate to Value Village and I was happy with getting a coupon of like 10% off my next purchase for like 2 garbage bags full of clothes. I didn’t realize there’s places out there that actually BUY clothes off of you

Plato’s most the time doesn’t know brands very well unless the person sorting them personally knows the brand

Plato's rarely ever takes my clothes. They bought one dress for like $15 and have never bought any of my items again

Just to let you know, as a former employee, they are starting to set up sellers kiosks. I don’t know if the location that you went to already had one, but what they are planning to do with these is keep track of who is selling to multiple locations at once. How many times they’re selling within one day and they’re keeping stats on how likely they are to buy your items as a seller. That is why they create profiles, etc. etc. Now I don’t know if they plan on doing this with different stores that have different franchise owners or this is solely for the same owners that they’re keeping track of in their systems. I know as of about a year ago they were going to start doing that but we’ll see. They also use these systems to blacklist certain people, and they will put caution notes on your profile. That could include like I said, selling frequently, selling multiple times within a day, and visiting different stores after already previously visiting others they are cracking down and they are making sure that we cannot do this.

That’s crazy they took 20 items from me Nike and American eagle and gave me 50 dollars

unfortunately each platos is owned by different people so they all accept different things. the one i work at takes items by season, so it's spring/summer right now, we aren't taking any winter items. we also have to follow a catalogue they give us each season for trendy styles. so yeah I understand why they didn't take those ugly LEATHER pants.

Platos closet gives nothing. I would sometimes bring in clothes that STILL HAD THERE TAGS. They wouldnt take it because it was "outdated"
