Today we are looking at 3 differtent (SSS) strat: the Fender Player Series Strat in the finish Tidepool, the newer Fender Player Plus Strat (in Opal Spark) and the Squier Classic Vibe '60s strat in Lake Placid Blue. From a visual standpoint I like all three of these guitars, but how is the sound? Or the playability? You know...the important stuff? Let's find out!

I'm searching for my first electric guitar and I got VERY lost in all the options at all the price levels. So I want to say thank you for showing us that this Squier Strat is a very good option. I will go for that one and start there. ✌🏻

Totally agree with you! I don't need the "Fender" logo in my CV '60 😊 She 's a great guitar!

I have always enjoyed the tunes you use for the tone examples!

I just bought a CV 60s in fiesta red and its fantastic, it really shows how squire is knocking it out of the park.

Great update on the Fender Player v Classic Vibe shootout. I totally agree that the regular Player is, as you say, just kind of clunky. I’m intrigued by that push pull pot on the Plus but jeez I love my CV, which has sidelined my other guitars, including a pretty awesome American Standard Tele. The light weight of the CV is really nice for an old guy with back issues too. And I’ve got to get one a pearloid pick guard! The cherry on top of an already beautiful guitar.

I got player yesterday instead of plus. Price difference wasn't big and I could certainly pay more for player plus. However, I saw a lot of people commenting how player plus had noiseless pickup that didn't sound as good as Player series. As a beginner, I am sure I wouldn't notice much of a difference anyway so I decided to spend that $200 difference on AMP instead. If I were to spend more money on guitar ($900 vs $1120) hoping to make a big difference, I probably would spend more to make bigger difference such as $2000 guitars.

I’ve just bought the Squire Classic Vibe 50’s Strat and I’m blown away with it. I’ve owned a Road Worn Strat and the SRV Signature Strat in the past and I would say the Squire would stand along side the both of them, in fact I’m so impressed that I intend buying the Classic Vibe 50’s Butterscotch Tele later in the year. I remember the days when I wouldn’t give a Squire a second look, changed days, well done Squire. Having said that I am going to upgrade the Strat with locking tuners, upgrade the Trem and add the Osidian Blender kit to get the Bridge/Neck sound. Can I finish by saying excellent video, it was yourself and a few others channels that opened my eyes to the Squire Guitars, they have come a long way.

Thank you very much Miike. I have tried and been deceived by the fender player. For now I'm heading to a player plus (I want satin neck with maple fretboard), but I'm really considering giving a try to the sweet classic vibe thanks to you!

I watched your video not for the strat perspective - but how well the Squier CV 60's would do - as I have a Classic Vibe 60's P Bass coming next wednesday - and I'm looping over and over - do I keep it or get the Player version - so far all signs point to keep it - your video helped with supporting the quality of the Squire. Anyhow - great video! Subscribed too (as I have a Strat and a Tele.)

Thank you sir for a very interesting review. I have my eyes pointed at a squier cv and this makes me more convinced to buy one!👍

Negligible difference in the sound of all three which tells me I can buy two Squiers and mod them for the price of one player plus. Squier for the win all day long.

But doesn't amp setup make a difference as well? Because I have watched videos where I liked the sound on the Player series, but I didn't in this video. And I saw a video where a guy compared the sounds on the Player series and the player Plus series. And I didn't like the Player Plus in that video but I liked the Player. But I liked the Player Plus more in this video than the other video. The Player seemed to have more dynamics than the Player Plus in the video I saw.

I have two Squier Standard strats made probably 5 years ago. They have modern "C" satin necks which I love. The bodies and necks feel perfect. I had a luthier upgrade everything electric, all hardware, and install bone nuts. They sound and play better than the high end MIA Fenders and cost less even after the upgrades. I've owned and sold 3 Player strats. They are not worth the money. My next guitar will be a Squier Classic vibe. The high end Squiers are not only for beginners. They are well made.

The Fender Player Series I like the sound much better in all the positions you've tried. It has the classic fender stratocaster sound (alnico V pickups). I don't like the sound of the Noiseless pickups and the Squier pickups lack a lot of body. I do not agree with your classification. I particularly prefer the Fender Player Series with the HSS maple neck. Greetings from Perú. 🎸👍

Great play and comparison!! I've tried a ST player on maple board and have 60s CV made by 2013. MY CV is alder and rosewood board. I haven't tried a ST player on pau ferro. In this case a player is the best tone. CV isn't good pitch. My CV isn't so good tone but it's OK as a second guitar.
