Any item bearing the name Yamaha in association with Top Artist Dave Weckl has to be good, and this drum doesn’t disappoint.

Drummers associate Dave Weckl snare drums with the Maple Shell Models but this one has a shell of chromium plated aluminum, with chrome plated die-cast counterhoops and eight low mass individual chrome tension lugs. Twin strainers are fitted as standard, with two different types of snare wires which can be used individually or both together to give wide tonal possibilities. The shell combined with the die-cast hoops produces a dry, warm but penetrating sound and the drum sounds equally good at low, medium or high tension.
