in 2014, we came up with a unique idea: build women-led businesses in underserved communities, and empower them to improve their lives and their communities. we began by helping a group of artisans in masoro, rwanda set up their own business supplying handbags starting with the ones for our on purpose label. rwanda is just the first stop in our on purpose journey, and their company, which is owned by its employees, provides employment for more than 150 people who work full-time, earn competitive salaries and enjoy benefits including vacation annually, health care and paid maternity leave. because we’re better together.
