If you prioritize one group over the other, the idea of equality goes out the window; an often touted goal of feminism.

I find it so amusing that you discovered that in fact women were overrepresented on that list in the class room. Why? Because their roles were supportive throughout history, so eminence came through the male gender. Instead of acknowledging this idea, you have just tried to call it injustice. This is so misguided

Would be interesting to hear more about the root causes and key barriers. Rwanda example is sad as the power balance changed only after so many men got killed.

How much 'empowerment' do western women need though? We're at a point where we may as well just buy every young girl a blutooth headset and put an audio file on repeat with 'you're competent, brave, funny, smart and powerful' running 24/7.

The more I listen to this, the less I believe it. I don´t know much about Rwanda, but I believe that it´s a society that steel relies on family values. Western countries don´t. Feminism in our countries have become an extreme form of individualism, focused on giving women what they want and holding men back. Not even the children´s rights are prioritized, as seen by the resistance towards shared custody, obligaory DNA test for paternity and the struggle for women´s right to become a mother without a known father - despite the children´s right to know about their ancestry.

I´m a Swede, a country heavily dominated by feminism, and for what I can see it´s going down. The results in school are plummeting, the gang violance is rapant, Sweden has now the highest murder rates in Europe except for Ukraine. The brain drain is notable.

The Rwanda example is not to be taken out of it´s context, I believe. On the countrary: women are ruining our society. Universities are becoming politicized and irrelevant, the HR are growing like a cancer making obstructing everything in the corporative world. Women have had the same career opportunities for decades, yet we have seen very few inventions made by women and few big enterprises created by women.

I feel like "prioritising" is not different from "empowering" because both are granted by another party...I would say "intentionally and deliberately closing the gender inequality gap created by past systematic discriminations for centuries" is a better way putting it. On a side note, in developing countries, many women do still need to be empowered to break out of cultural or religious barriers etc. So I don't necessarily think empowering is failing women.

So its good women are the majority of a legislator and bad if men are

Rwanda or kagame is government are prioritizing women with the fear that putting more men in power they will become the biggest opposition to take kagame down where as he sees women as less threatening to his power. I wish it was for a good will to promote women in Rwanda but it's not the case.

A wise man once said if God wanted women to be in the workforce he would have made them alcoholics.

You can’t have power if you can’t enforce it. Can we admit that men enforce your “power”. Thats a liberty given by the patriarchy
