What a massive privilege it would to learn from this great master at his dojo. Am so grateful that he allows his teachings to be shared online. One of the true greats for sure.

These basic principles are what's missing in much of the martial arts in the US. Thank you

I miss my Karate days. Years later this knowledge here becomes very useful even after 15 + years of martial arts. Awesome stuff!🙏🏻💪🏻🇬🇧

I never thought about it, but my Hsing Yi master always taught us to "sit down" when we did "standing stake" and didn't just tell us to bend our knees. He was teaching us subconsciously! Now that's a true master! It's too bad that I wasn't able to learn from him more than two years, but I'm grateful for the time I got to spend learning from him.

This is really the essence of the art not theatrics! Without learning, experiencing, and practicing these concepts to no ends, it is impossible to reach the higher levels. Strive for deeper understanding!

This took me back to my Sensei in Shotokan in Scotland.

He would get a stick he named ‘Basil’ and walk up and down the 2 rows have us all line up and slap the end of our fists check our stances

Sometimes he would grab the hand side step and pull us forward as everybody brace themselves expecting the push so became ‘matt dwellers’ 😂

Core check was fun with a fist to the guts or pause just before to check your reaction.
If you closed your eyes pulled a face or flinched got inside leg kick or press ups.

‘Basil’ was used in the kids class as a pointer attention grabber and brace against when lowering in stance or to be pulled back on feet.

But when he used it in adult/fighters class it became sinister. 😂

Across the arms legs back stomach or ‘core bore’ where you would be subject to a prodology lesson. 😂

I loved that class and got to meet train and be graded by the incredible Masao Kawasoe.

Greatest years of my life and formed a love for Martial arts that lasted 30 years before a work injury stopped me training & working my trade.

I still give the Makiwara a slap now and again keep the hammers from rusting but my head kicking days are over.

🤜🏼🤛🏼🙏🏼🇯🇵🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Center of gravity is key to finding balance. When you focus on your center of gravity, you become immovable.

My sensei taught me this. It does really work. It is almost as if your feet is cemented to the ground.

У меня такое ощущение что этот тренер знает как природу человека, так и физику с геометрией, также анатомию и строение человека.
Удивительно, насколько продвинуты именно восточные единоборства. Они включают в себя практически всё, что окружает нас.
