Never fished a baitcaster before. Just purchased my first and practicing in the backyard this morning. First cast: backlash 😂. After watching this it was relatively easy to remove. Thanks bro for your great content. You’ve taught this noob more than I could ever imagine in the past year. Tight lines! 🎣

If it's kind of bad, I tighten up the drag and reel a few times with my thumbs over the spool as tight as I can. I then pull. This usually undo the backlash by itself so I dont have to pick the lines. Works 80% of the time.

You saved my 300 yards braid line, big thank you! There's lots of videos that explain how to do it, but most of them say same thing about putting pressure and reeling, which did not worked for me, but your method saved my line, big thank you!

Tyler, I am on the lake right now and just got my first major bird nest. Watched this video, took a deep breath and 5 minutes later I got it all out. Thank you!

Spin caster all my life, just recently bought my first baitcaster and the way you explained how to finesse the line, and not be rough with it, helped me with backlashes so much, thanks!

Just came from your “No More Backlashes” video and let me say….your videos are the easiest to follow. You explain everything perfectly. I feel a lot more comfortable with my baitcaster now after watching just these two videos

Having only spin casted and fly fished most of my life, I sometimes struggle with bait casting. Now, I prefer bait casting because of its versatility, often in spite of my lack of proficiency ! Videos like yours along with viewer comments are very helpful.

It's my second day of using a bait caster and I just got a gnarly birdnest. Thanks for your help, I managed to get rid of it even with 5 "roadblocks" as you say. THANK YOU once again! ! !

I just retired and bought my first baitcaster ever (a Kistler) and went with quality because I was expecting a learning curve and didn't want to wonder whether it was equipment. I did get some backlashes my first time out and couldn't figure out why because I had gone through the whole tuning procedure and was careful practicing feathering with my thumb on a calm day. I finally figured out that it was my release timing. I was releasing too early (it's a bit different than spinning and I was trying both side casting and overhead). I finally figured out that I was releasing just a bit too early, had too high of an arc and the lure was slowing at the top at the top of the arc for a fraction of a second while the reel continued wanting to spin out at the same speed. Lots to learn but man, can you get distance with a baitcaster when you do it right.

I am mostly a fly fisherman but I have used (inexpertly) a baitcasting reel a few times. What I really like about them is that it takes skill to use. More interesting than a spinning outfit. My perception is that a person can be really accurate with them.

at the end a good piece of info, check the line on the line for abnormalities, kinks bends or looseness after a long cast.. Good vid all around ! Thank You

I'm digging the new intro. Awesome job sir. And I'm the backlash king! This series has been helpful to me even after all my years of backlashing.

Awesome explanation and method. I am guilty of being rough when pulling the line, but easing up a bit helped get the bird's nest out...thanks!

They work, thanks! Well the last one did cause mine was serious. I kinked and will have to cut off about 20yds but at least I got it. Now to try second-ever cast, wish me luck!
