Open carry exercise turns into second amendment audit. (I thought I might get arrested)

For some context:
We see mass shootings consistently on the news and all we as a nation ever seem to do about it is debate gun control laws and then wait around for the next one. I decided to buy myself a plate carrier and rifle so that if I ever found myself nearby an active shooter situation I could hopefully make it in time to make a difference. The thing people don't seem to talk about is that just having the gear doesn't mean you'll be able to use it effectively when the time comes. Training your aim and conditioning with your gear is important in my opinion. If there were ever a situation in which I needed to put myself out there and attempt to save lives I might find myself in a full sprint with heavy plates, ammo, and a rifle that I've never done cardio with before and by the time I get to the fight I could very well be useless... I obviously can't take my gear into a gym and run on the treadmill but it is my right to open carry and I can use the trails around the city to get my training in. Unfortunately I'll have these encounters for a while before they leave me to my devices and I don't blame them for coming to check out the situation but I won't stand for them disarming me every time I go out to train cardio with my gear.
I am no auditor and I don't study exactly what to say to officers so I probably missed a lot of good opportunities to get my point across. I just want to be physically fit enough to make a difference in my community if I'm ever needed. I shouldn't feel pressured to join the military to exercise my right to carry a rifle. My rifle is to defend my home and my community and there's nothing wrong with that.
