I understand the point about ill-fitting suits, but clothes should bring joy and if a fancy, colorful suit from a different time period does that, then wear it!

Ngl those 70s suits didn’t look terrible. Although the bell bottoms were maybe a little much 😂 also the flap chest pocket on the jacket is crazy

Just be you. I wear some ill fitting suits because they are off the rack and I don't have a lot of money. I also have some outdated sports coats and I like them. Who cares. We live in a time when people walk around in their underwear and pajamas.

Good video but just gotta say, you use 70’s suits as an example of why use should not wear suits that are outdated and stand out bc of that, then proceed to show as the correct way to do it, one of the guys wearing spats, a 3 piece suit, with a off color early 20th century styled vest, with a derby and a walking cane. I would say the 70’s suit would stand out far less.

The only recommendation I agree with is the ill fitted suit. Don't agree with the other two. It's about confidence, and how you wear the clothes no matter the suit style.

I regularly wear 50s and 60s suits in different ways. I also have a 60s suit that has a military inspired style. For example, it has these decorated brass buttons and some subtle shoulder Epaulettes.

I don't think there's anything wrong with wearing an "outdated" suit, because as with everything there's a way to do it right. It still mightn't be classic, but if someone wants to wear it, they should. I'm saying this as a total sucker for the 60s and 70s styles though.
Sometimes it's a little bit of fun to go outside the box of what is considered "classic" and experiment a little, while still applying classic style rules. Like the 70s suits you showed didn't look bad (in my opinion) it was the hair and the massive collars pointing over the lapels that date them massively.

This rules only apply if you're going for a classic style, if your personal aesthetic doenst fit this, then wear your thing instead of trying to correct the teacher

Let's not kid ourselves here. A lot of the suits and outfits you feature on this channel are "costumy" by 2024 standards.

What's the difference between the 1940/50s suits you love and the 1970's ones? With the exception of bell bottoms of course, which we can all agree look ridiculous.
