Every man needs a black suit. After you get a black suit, there's 5 suits you need to get. You need to get black, navy, gray, brown, tan. Get those 5 suits, you get yourself 2 white shirts, get yourself 2 cream colored shirts, and two powder blue shirts. You can make 75 with those combinations 'cause every last one of those pants goes with every last one of those jackets, every last jacket goes with every last one of those pants. You cannot mess up. The beige pants go with the gray jacket. The gray pants go with the brown jacket. Black pants go with everything. Get yourself some ties, handkerchiefs and start living your best life!

Your first suit should be a navy or charcoal gray suit with notched lapels. Black would come second. Peak lapels and pins stripes should come second.

I am 15 and have already accumulated eighteen suits. Half of which were handmade in either France, Italy or Britain. All altered. And then you have this slim-fit troglodyte trying to give you information!? In my opinion the bare minimum is:

1. A decent dinner jacket (preferably in a dark red velvet and no notched lapels)
2. A double breasted suit in dark blue pinstripe (black is the most overrated colour in menswear, stand out)
3. A single breasted sports coat (for when the weather calls for an unstructured suit that you won't sweat in)
4. A three piece suit with contrasting waistcoat or alternatively a blazer (separate trouser colour) with contrasting waistcoat.
5. A beautifully handmade suit that you wear for when you want to feel motivated and comfortable

Another tip, never buy artificial fibres, they sell for higher prices later, breathe easier and develop a beautiful patina over time.
