Great explanation! I am definitely one of those who had a bad decade of sanctification. I never doubted my justification but finally came to marvel that God WOULD justify me knowing how bad I was going to be.

It is comforting to understand that since I never DESERVED justification in the first place that God keeps me justified in spite of myself.

No one can take me out of His hand - not even me. To God be the glory; great things He has done.

Thank you for this explanation! I’m one of those people who always doubts my justification when I’m having a particularly rough time, usually with keeping up good habits or when I have some doubts or confusion on certain truths. This helps me have a little more understanding of where I stand with God. 😊

At a prayer meeting, I remember one of the men thanking God that our justification is not based on our sanctification. I find that encouraging, as I have felt at times that sanctification in my own life is slow. However, I can confidently say that I'm not what I used to be, and I know from God's Word that sanctification IS His will, and if His Word says that, than I can be assured that He will accomplish it.

Well said Pastor Matthew. I find the arguments against eternal security come from a deficiency in understanding the power and promises of God and the capability of the Holy Spirit to keep us to the end (Jude 24).
