I just had to do this but with my favorite cartoon that has better hispanic representation 😊

About primos, i am not fully hating it but i do understand some of the reasons why a lot of people, including Latinos are not liking this upcoming show

So about the person who has been going after me and also going after a few others all because I don’t have any control of showing the likes and dislikes, I thought about it and just decided to block that person. I just had enough. It’s not my fault that the YouTube company were the ones who made the choice to do the disable. I even tried to see if I could show the dislikes by using the settings on the YouTube studio app but there was no option for that.
Like all I just wanted was to show a fun silly meme video. I wasn’t intending to hurt anybody or something.
But yea, I tried reasoning but that person just kept calling me a coward or liar. Also to the people who got my back, thank you so much. You guys are awesome ☺️

The creator said a few years back that El Tigre would one day return. I'm holding him to that XD

El Tigre, Mucha Lucha and even Speedy González are what make latin americans proud of themselves.

Here’s what I have to say: El Tigre works because it’s celebrating an actual Mexican tradition (lucha libre) and the creator is from the country. He made sure to make his research work regarding his native culture and create something that everyone would enjoy regardless of their nationality. Granted, there are a few “stereotypical” aspects thrown in such as the cacti and warm skies but they’re not inherently bad things and it fits the desertic city aesthetic (There are a few deserts in Mexico, it’s just not the whole country). Ultimately, any stereotypical aspects are overshadowed by likeable characters, well written stories and an overall positive portrayal of the culture in question (Which is why Speedy Gonzales was so beloved in Mexico despite Americans mistakenly believing he was offensive because of his sombrero)

In Primos, well…. They did not do their research properly. The yellow sky feels more thrown in and badly incorporated. There are even more stereotypes and it includes ones that are actually offensive (Dangerous and untidy neighborhoods, earthquake references, messy and poorly mantained households, hanging shoes, weird names and such). It makes the cheery song feel like it’s actually celebrating negative aspects of Latino culture. Then we have the staff’s commentary about representing the whole Latino culture with the show (making it look like America thinks Latino equals Mexico by default when the culture varies from country to country). The poorly conjugated Spanish sentence doesn’t help either.

If you want to properly represent a foreign culture, be careful with the stereotypes and make sure to do enough research about it (Tip: Highlight a lesser known aspect about the culture that you find such as Mexico having a wide variety of mushrooms and their importance in their cuisine). El Tigre was one of the main factors on why I became fascinated with Mexican culture.

To be fair, its not exactly surprising that the superhero show gets the more upbeat & exciting theme song.

Who else isn't even latino but loved El Tigre/Mucha Lucha?

I can thank El Tigre, mucha lucha, and the short time I spent with my nan when I was younger for the small part of me that lives and breathes all things Hispanic. My Mexican side would be virtually non-existent without them.

I am very fond of El Tigre. When I was little, I loved the fun and juxtaposing nature of the show, and I still do today. I especially loved the message of each episode *showing* how even though each family members' ideals clash, they always bring the best out of each other when they work together to tackle their problems.

Anybody remember that one Boomerang channel bumper that payed homage to Mexico's culture just like El Tigre. That was always awesome. Also Jack Black's Nacho Libre is more respectful than Disney's Primos.

El Tigre, Mucha Lucha, and most importantly, Nacho Libre

Primos. If the label "LatinX" was a show.

Mucha Lucha should also be added and the funny thing is both of the creators of Mucha Lucha are Australians (one was was in England who moved to Australia, the other in Malaysian who moved to Australia as a kid) yet they made a better Hispanic/latino cartoon then Natasha Kline who said the show is inspired by her summers in childhood living with her cousins alongside her extended Mexican-American family.

fun fact: el tigre's creator also made the film the Book Of Life.
