I am genuinely convinced the ex in story 1 knew he'd never have a chance with OP in any normal circumstance so he swept in when she was the most vulnerable. That's also why he made sure to beat her down every chance he could; to keep her vulnerable and under the mindset that she's lucky he even wants her.
He is a sick bastard honestly.

Its painful to hear people say "they're nice! They're still a good person!" and the go on to describe the most narcissistic abusive behaviour ever

Story two: dude, HER OWN PARENTS side with OP. THATS how dangerous of a driver she is. Frankly I would be actively trying to get her license permanently taken away from her as she is a legit danger to herself, her kids, AND everyone on the road

Story 1: if he tries to blame you and say that you're obsessed with your late husband call him out that, no, HE is the one obsessed.

Story 1 is a BIG RED FLAG and she SHOULD RUN! Do you want 50 years of walking on eggshells and the other insecure shite?

Story 2: the wife getting into crashes back to back is insane. OP is completely doing the right thing. She literally did the same thing TWICE, despite being adamant she "wasn't an idiot" 🙄

Story 1 : *In general he is a good person"*

Narrator: He was not, in fact, a good person.

*"the way he was supportive and there for me made me think getting in a relationship with him was the right thing"*

Predator behavior.

Story2: Thing is even when OPs wife is the only one in the car she STILL endangers others. She isn't the only one driving. What has to happen? Does she have to kill someone and tried for murder? With her history as a bad driver someone could try.

Story 2: Hell no! Take her license away now. She is a danger to other people.

The fact the ex wouldn’t immediately move out since he had an apartment was such a red flag glad OP listened to reddit and got her sister and BIL involved to intimidate him out.

Second story is another perfect example of how intentions don't matter. It doesn't matter if her crappy driving decisions were "on purpose." It doesn't matter if she would "never intentionally harm" her children. She has repeatedly demonstrated that she is A) an unsafe driver, and B) unwilling to do anything to remedy point A. If she had any sense or self-awareness at all, she'd never drive with her children in the car because even she should be aware of how bad she is at driving.

He stole her ring. He's gaslighty. She probably never said his name. I hope she leaves him.

Story 2: What boggles my mind is that afted all these accidents, injuries, hospitalizations... she not only learned nothing but she has ZERO FEAR of driving.

WTF?! Who goes through that kind of trauma and just leaves it in the hospital when she rolls out?

There's something else wrong with this woman... she needs therapy.

Story 2: I will never understand how people can be so blatant while driving a 2-ton death machine. I've been driving for over ten years and never been in an accident. I take driving very seriously and know that if I can't drive (especially at night), I don't.

Story 1: He was an abusive predator. I am so sorry to hear what happened to your husband OP. Take care and get better.

"Or anyone driving a boat, by the sounds of it."

Well done, Mark. Well done. 👏

The wife on the last story probably has insurance premiums higher than Richard Hammond.

I think he was a "friend" because he was waiting in the wings for the opportunity and when OP's husband died, he "attacked". He was always jealous of OP's husband for having her. He remained friends because he was obsessed with OP. He said that in the end to punish her for rejecting him. Horrible and dangerous person.

Story 2: *She wouldn't intentionally harm them." As if that would make it better. LOL
