Should You Stop Using Windows 11 because of the privacy concerns?
The choice would have to be yours, but if you are asking me, no. Windows 11 is perfectly fine with some minor settings changes and tweaks.

They are harvesting data only to make the OS better? Bloody hell Brian.

Converted my daughters laptop to Linux, I'll be doing my Mrs next week, and then when I purchase another one for home entertainment centre, that'll also be Linux. Screw windows....!

I already did. Been watching the frogs boil and talk themselves into it for years now.

Use what you want, no one cares.

The biggest issue with windows is not the privacy issues, it is the intense hardware requirements. Even if you have a new PC with Windows 11 capable, it still runs SLOW. Windows is a resource eater. That and the updates, restrictions, mandatory stuff, etc.

The answer to that is no. You should continue to use Windows 11. Windows 11 is better than Windows 10 in many ways.

The issue is with Copilot AI and Recall which Microsoft shut themselves in the leg.
As for Windows 11, it doesn't recognize intel CPU from 11 gen and up nor NVME ssd. An external driver is needed which do not fit for Windows 10 installation (It gave me the blue screen of death).
Now, When looking on Windows history, it is like thos.
Prior versions of Windows are not taken into account because it was at the beginning of Windows.
Win 98 - people loved it
Win 2000/NT - people didn't like it
Win XP - people loved it very much
Vista - the most hated Windows OS until today
Win 7 - Was the best version of Windows
Win 8-Win 8.1 - people didn't like it a lot an no start menu...
Win 10 - people love it.
Win 11 - Microsoft shooting their own leg with both Recall and AI copilot.

So if each following version of the ones that people love is always falling behind, it means we better wait until Win 12 come out, hopefully, windows will back off from their nonsense.
Until then, Zorin OS is the way to go for Windows users.

Crash reports, I am fine with. But if they harvested data to make our windows experience better then why is every new feature a security nightmare and only half-baked implemented. I want my computer to do things for me, I do turn off all the telemetry that they allow. (if the fancy toggles even do anything...)

I don't even use Windows 11 at least on my main desktop anymore. I just dualbooted Windows 7 with Linux Mint and just ditched the newer versions. Sure, Windows 7 is unsupported but as long as my programs are up to date and I have the necessary Windows updates along with Microsoft Security Essentials or some kind of antivirus as well as common sense, I do not care.

Edit: I do have a new laptop with Windows 11 and use it but I have ran Chris Titus Tech's utility and disabled the telemetry along with other stuff I do not want on Windows 11 and I have debloated it with Revo Uninstaller. Even then, I was thinking about trying to dualboot Linux Mint on that too.

Of Course, everything is fine with win11 and its Data Harvesting isn't that big of a problem.

Ok, at this point I can't take this channel for serious anymore.

So true you are absolutely correct, besides privacy went out the door long ago. Just like with advertising, it is everywhere now. The only way you can avoid all this mess is to go to a forest or mountain top and live off grid! It is what it is.

You all should stop using it all together 🙄👎

Great rundown of the overall facts, the main reason I have not come off Win 10 is the forced Microsoft account log in for Win 11, and that Win 11 looks kind of like Linux or KDE from 2016.
But you have given a realistic look at the situation, without some paranoia of spying etc that ill informed people do.

I’m staying with Windows 10 as long as possible; it’s bad enough. I don’t even want to START using Windows 11. I’d almost rather stop using computers altogether if I had to accept that atrocity.

I cannot agree that we cannot do nothing and cannot know anything how system handles our data. Indeed a lot is in shades, but even a closed source system may have a commitment to API and thus quite transparent to our expectation of how information is treated. To begin with, anyone can install a good firewall and get full control of the data flow. Windows will hardly ever be the one for privacy and security concerned users, but even the average user can get a utility with a good filter list that stops most telemetry and shady web zones. It takes some time and efforts, but absolutely possible. The internet browsing experience then becomes just as good as it was two decades ago. Really helps make internet great again

The thing is... connecting to the internet for the first time to a big corporation is like signing a digital contract. They'll provide you with everything for free but the cost of your digital soul. I take pride in free stuff but you have to be grateful for that. These days, people are spoiled for free stuff on the internet. Don't expect they'll make you feel safe. There are a lot of dangers to watch out for that you have to defend yourself. It's like in real life.

Hello Britec09. I think you really need to make a part 2 or atleast an update video covering this topic, because the youtuber who goes by the name, SomeOrdinaryGamers/Mudahar, just today made another video covering the Recall feature (By the time I wrote this comment), and acording to what he is talking about in his video, Microsoft wants to bring back this Recall feature, after they said they were gonna shelv it as you discripted.

You may not be able to stop Windows from phoning home perse, but you can control the network connections with a separate firewall, whether software or hardware, as well with other security appliances. You are right about all of the other services. Every business does it. You'll be pulling your hair out trying to protect your data from every service out there. Just connecting renders you vulnerable. The only real option is to live a simpler life with less technology. Can't say that isn't a bad thing. How enriched have our lives really become with all of this technology? Somewhat yes. A lot of it are distractions.

The future for me with computers is to have Linux for basic uses and Windows for gaming and Microsoft services. Walling it off like that.
