Diplomatic Editor Mark Urban Reports.

Just transfer the UK's interests in HongKong to France and Germany that do not ban Huawei. This would be enough punishment for their siding the US bully.

Yes, there would be consequences in divesting from the PRC, however, it would only be a matter of time for good investment counsellors or managers to find markets more stable and moral that the contract breaking communists.
That contract with the U.K. over HK was til 2047, NOT 2020.. Beijing has acted dishonourably.

Wonder if the Chinese Embassy will continue to issue business visas for British passport holders. They haven't issued any business visas since March anyway here in the UK, but will be interesting to see what happens now.

The UK was all about business, which I respect, now its just about blindly following the US .

Why is China the only country not allowed to exercise its power on the global stage? Why is it only the west who's allowed to do that? E.g. why is the country in charge of regulating global nuclear weapons the only country to have ever used them against another country, twice, and both times on civilian populations?

I would rather listen to my grandma’s fairy tale stories, because they are more reliable than these experts’ words.

The only reason Uk and America are moaning is because of their access to hot money in Hong Kong.

The rise of China as an economic and innovative industrial power has been the cause of tensions between them and the USA. It is inevitable that China will surpass the USA as the world's largest economy and it has and will continue to challenge core US businesses like IT, Automotive and Aviation. The USA has shown it's strategy in attempting to harm Chinese business and have involved allies including the UK in that endeavour. This is short term and unlikely to do anything other than convince China to become more independent in the production of it's products and may lead to international standards being threatened. One has to consider how close US businesses are to their government through defence contracts and data sharing, unlike China who have made their business and government collaboration legally transparent. The USA cannot expect China to remain their cheap labour workshop and to keep open it's markets for the growth of GM, Ford, Tesla, Boeing etc if the reward is the deliberate destruction of China's growing businesses.

Its ironic how Western countries act like they give a damn about Uighurs but did nothing about the Rohingyas.

The importance of the US deal and with countries outside the EU is not only on the trade it can bring to the UK, but also use them as leverage to negotiate an EU deal.

These people are too bias, citing with America. How come you people never mention about America sanctioning Venezuela and Iran from getting foods and medicine killing the elders and children. What kind of human rights are that. Everyone just kept silent just because of America.
