Germany’s fastest regional train 🇩🇪🚆

In the near future there will be even more regional trains on high speed tracks in Germany.
Nürnberg-München Express, and Franken Thüringen express will travel nearly 200kmh on v300 tracks.

The IRE 200 will be replaced with a regional train that travels from Karlsruhe to Lake Constance and uses big parts of the Mannheim-Stuttgart high speed line as well as the full Stuttgart-Ulm high speed line.

It's a cool development, but the regional train I will always love the most is the TER 200 just across the border to our French neighbors.

The French TER 200 is one of the best regional train on this world. Great vehicles and great speeds we need more trains like this the TER 200 show how regional rail should work. The trains from the 1970‘s and 1980‘s the corail car shows how trains should work having all amenities you want. I really can’t believe that other companies buy trains with a single toilet, no sunblinde, no WIFI, hard seats and much less comfort (SBB‘s new IC Flirt’s).

The München-Nüremberg Express reaches speeds of 190km/h

There are plenty of 'regional" trains with ERTMS, though. The Dutch ICNG is an example that can drive 200km/h (although it has IC in its name, it's based on a regional train design). And Arriva Flirts have ERTMS too, although they are 160km/h variants.

Even some of the other regional trains have some pretty crazy acceleration. I took one between Heidelberg and Karlsruhe and my goodness could that thing fly.

The french TER 200 Strasbourg-Basel has and will always be the best fastest regional train in the world, with these old Corail coaches, you can feel the 200 Km/h, in an TGV/ICE, you barely feel it because of huge isolation.

What is quite interesting in my opinion is that they haven't changed the timetable for trains between Bamberg and coburg, which means most of the time you arrive in Coburg around 3-5min early, because of the higher train speed. Quite a rarity in german train network

We in Finland Have an Intercity train 200 kmh and a Pendolino train 220 km h
