Search. Then after one has searched something, you re-search it. The first scavenger when does it over a geographical area is called an explorer. When within a new topic or subject (of the 100% in the mind 100% thing that makes the successful one a scientist, others geeks and/or bureaucrats) - scholar. Seems so to me. When done for food items & refuse - the scavenger retains the original descriptive label of the scavenger.
