Translation:
"We are deeply sorry this was caught on video but we don't have the courage to actually hold anyone accountable."

Until ALL of those officers involved are fired AND charged, your apology is empty! That INCLUDES the UNION members!

Apologies are not welcome. Accountability is needed, and justice should be served. Rest in power young lady.

The mayor and the police chief aren't the source of the problem. The problem is the Seattle Police Guild - it was their leadership. They remain silent. One can only assume that the rank and file members of the Seattle police department represented by that union feel exactly as the individual on the recording regarding members of the public and their lack of value or importance.

Thank you for this.
The people now want accountability otherwise just empty apologies and the people of privilege and authority win.

Presents as a "nothing will fundamentally change" apology.

Lights and sirens on only give you due regard not
carte blanche. The court can still hold a police
officer accountable for reckless behavior and
endangering the public. That's why they back off
from high speed chases.

Rest in peace Jaahnavi Kandula 🙏

An apology after nine months for a police officer killing and mocking a young girl's life is totally unacceptable .The Chief should be fired as well as the officer. 😠😭

IF YOURE SO SORRY, FIRE ALL 3 COPS! ENOUGH OF THE EMPTY APOLOGIES! HOW ABOUT YOU TAKE ACTION?

You can keep those apologizes until the individual responsible is gone. The community want accountability not a apology.

To start with just fire the police chief and the officer that in the video, you can't take what he said out of context.

I want that punk cop to make a public apology. Police chief, you know what has to happen, but the police will always be unaccountable which breeds a culture of some feeling elite, better than and immune to empathy. You both know what needs to happen, accountability for police by ending qualified immunity. Court settlements coming out of the $375, 721, 213 2023 annual budget. Things will only change when police officers are accountable for financially hurting the police funding. Why give a care otherwise? The taxpayers will write a check for police crimes. I already know your crocodile tears are worthless and nothing will change.

Paper thin apology won't bring Jaahnavi back. Fire both officers will be the right thing to do or burn the city down.

When is the speeding cop and his pals who are so "tight" with each other, going to face the world and apologize? The Seattle Police Officers Guild is a giant COLOSTOMY BAG!

Why hasn’t the officer who hit the young lady issue an apology to the family. Did this officer have have his lights and siren on? Was this accident recorded by his dash cam?

This is not enough. This is not fair. This is not justice. How horrifying. My heart and prayers go to her family and her parents

Mayor Harrell and "acting" Chief Diaz ("acting" is right), thanks for the condolences. Now fire that despicable cop and we'll get on with it.
