QuickBooks Online - Using Multiple Currencies

turn on multiple currencies, add a foreign currency bank account, supplier, customer, invoice, bill, payment and receipt

We are booking a cash balance clean-up entry in foreign currency to an expense account, so should we edit the exchange rate to match the amount to Home currency as per the Balance sheet or we book it as a foreign exchange profit or loss to income statement or Quick book does it on its own. Please advise.
