It cost me $26 to ship a chef’s knife from Montreal to Ottawa, and they can’t turn a profit?
I think they have a management problem.

How much does the CEO make annually and how many bonuses are given out for losing millions and

We get package slips saying failed delivery. They NEVER even try, they come to the house with the slip in hand.

Maybe its time to fire some of the excess management that does little to nothing and gets bonus. Its also time to fix reliability!

Canada Post is the ONLY courier that doesn't deliver to my door.

Canada Post is absolutely necessary. Without them I would get no junk mail, and I love junk mail. So glossy. 50% off a pizza? Some weird company who wants to buy my gold? I can't believe I get all these wonderful fliers for free!

The greatest hurdle for CP is price and reliability.
I’m a small business owner that ships through Canada post. On 50 orders 4-6 will be “lost” and another 3 will arrive damaged.
I then have to file for refund from Canada post.
Because they lose or break my packages they have to replace my product at a $100 loss.
On 7 lost/damaged orders that’s a $700 loss to CP.

This is how you fail at business.

You can work more but if your employees are incompetent and can’t deliver packages properly then what’s the point

Fire the federal government and the Canada Post upper management. Keep Canada Post!

I don't think this professor is aware that Canada Post owns Puralator.

Canada Post was late on jumping onto the E-commerce shipping. Other Courier companies took advantage of it and it cost Canada Post. Canada Post needs a complete overhaul from the top down. Going to a 7 day delivery will not solve anything.

Rural Canada depends on postal service for parcels. I only live 30mins away from a major city yet no courier will deliver to me.

When did we get the idea that a government service should be a money making operation? Yes it should be more efficient but that doesn’t mean it has to be profitable.

I'm old enough to remember Saturday delivery. I also don't use the mail much these days. It's been years since I mailed anything. However, I can think of a couple of things to cut costs. One is alternate day delivery. Give the carrier two routes, doing one route on one day and the other the next. Also, maybe rationalize some routes. I live in a condo, with addresses on two streets. This means the hut that contains our mailboxes has two different carriers, depending on which street the address is on. Why can't one carrier deliver to the entire hut? Another annoyance is when I receive a card stating they couldn't deliver a parcel, when I know I was home and waiting for it to arrive. I've even tracked parcels online, wating them get closer to my home, only to see them going back to the station as no answer!

Canada Post has been allocating $800 million a year for future projects! That does not constitute a loss….

Doug Ettinger's salary = OVER $400 THOUSAND annually PLUS bonuses...maybe start there in terms of cuts...

Maybe ask the 22 vice president's why they lost money instead of asking workers for more concessions. Ask them how much was spent on the new fleet last year. The new processing facility. If volumes are down, why so much spending on infrastructure?

The service is bad for anything bigger than a letter.
They don't deliver anything just outside London Ont. They just leave a ticket forcing you to go stand in a post office for 20 minutes to get a tiny box.

CP can’t get a package from Montreal to Cape Breton in under 5 days yet they charge more than their competitors. Even the old broad that works at the one around the corner needs an upgrade and an attitude check.

like any crown corporation, lots can be done to trim waste/improve service, but it is an essential service and shouldn't have to make a profit. Could you imagine healthcare, schools, infrastructure, . and the military being required to make a profit?
