If you are having problems with combat side stroke (CSS) try out these drills. First one is demonstrating scissor kick only; second is scissor kick and lead arm pull; third is 'belly rub' drill; lastly ABD or Alternating Breathing Drill.

Hey Snowstorm504, well to answer your question you would want to rotate to an almost belly down position. Reason for this is to maximize your pull w/ that top arm. Plus by rotating it allows you to reach farther and makes your body longer in the water giving you better surface area and balance. If you want to get your times faster I suggest doing more freestyle and breaststroke training. By combing those w/ your normal swim routine you should notice your times dropping. Keep up the good work.

Thanks a lot for these drills. My kick has always been a little weak. Any tips on how to speed up my 500? Ive been stuck at around 10:00 for awhile now. Also, what is the name of the song in this video. Again, much appreciated.

Curious...So are you suppose to return back to a belly-down streamline position as you kick following the second pull? OR, do you stay in a sideways position the entire time? I heard and have seen both. Just wondering which provides more water efficiency. Plus I've gotten my 500m down to around an average of 10:29, give or take. Is there anything I could do in my swims to get me down to anywhere in the 9's (aside from the obvious "keep swimming" advice lol)? Thanks for the vids!

Hey, why didn't you ever complete the full lap? :o understood for just the footage, but I don't think it's even possible for me to just stop haha! Thanks though sir, appreciated content!
