I disagree. I think this movie was about a woman taking control of her own mortality. I thought having the main character of a survival movie be a terminal cancer patient was a really cool, unique idea. Sure, it was sad but not bleak.

"Why couldn't she be the final girl?"
Why did she have to be? Sam's motivation throughout the movie was to go home. To literally (and figuratively) get pizza.
Her arc by the end saw her coming to terms with what was happening to her, find peace with it, and go out on her own terms, whilst also saving someone who had in turn helped her.
It's a beautiful story, and it's sad that you would rather just have a trope.

It’s so rare to see Lupita in a role in which she gets to have a happy ending. I’m so ready for Lupita to do some romantic comedies after watching this film.

Sarnoski understanded the hell out of this Universe. He turned it into an 11. A quiet place was always about humanity and what we can do together to survive. Fantastic, incredible movie.

As someone with chronic illnesses it's nice to see illnesses portrayed. Life can just be hard and sad but even with that you can make it happy in spite of the experience. Happy for Lupita

I agree it was sad but I was surprisingly touched by how Eric found peace with the cat and sam. I loved their relationship and how they helped each other. And I thought the ending was appropriate for how everything went down. I left the film feeling at peace for all the characters which is rare for the film like this

This was a piece of art, I’m happy it wasn’t a block buster and didn’t have a stereotypical happy ending. This movie was an about a woman who took control of her life despite of a shitty situation with grace, courage and dignity. I loved it

I remember a beautiful quote I saw about stories where we know the story is a tragedy, but we still make the journey because at a point she smiles, and yes she won't make it but it was worth it because of that smile.
