Quite often many of us can focus on following

- Trying to get a paper published asap
- Looking at ways to streamline an experiment
- Learn as many techniques as possible

These are great goals but can sometimes create problems, here are some solutions to help

- Focus on sharpening the saw to get clean consistent data with minimal mistakes
- Identify all the critical steps and then working doing experiments in batches to save time
- away from the lab learn the theory and basics (via resources e.g. youtube) then when you have time you can shadow people doing those techniques
